As a fan of reading I like to find new books that capture my attention from start to finish. Curbchek definitely did that! A friend pointed me in the direction of this book and I must say you will not be disappointed!! Each short story in itself draws you in and keeps your interest. The first few hours I could not put the book down, had to make myself go to bed!! Awesome reading!!

Not for the faint of heart. This gritty novel of short stories falls between the hard-boiled and true crime genre's of mystery suspense. Zach's fictional accounts of life as a cop keeps the reader guessing, you won't believe some of these characters and situations. Edgy details are softened with dark humor, easing the stories at just the right moments. Great book for those of us who love our crime dramas.

Surviving,

Curb Chek tells it like it was and is. I was a part of this when it occurred. What you read is revealing and shocking but for the most part very accurate, understanding it is from the authors point of view. Yet it reveals the pain, tribulations and effects endured by the officers who serve the community of which this book is written. Their world is truly different from what most citizens believe theirs to be. Especially the night which is so graphically and accurately revealed to be. I am glad to see the author put down on paper his experiences and hope it helps him as he continues with his life today. It has helped me realize what pain and inner turmoil I endured as a result of serving in the same community. I am thankful to have survived and retired from it. Thank you for a great read and hope to see you write more.

This is NOT a Fairy Tale...,

This review is from: CurbCheK (Paperback)
I have an extremely decent working knowledge of law enforcement. I understand, for the most part, how it all "works". The things people see on television gives the impression that good always wins over evil, superhero's prevail and in the end, for the most part, we are all safe. This book is reality. Read it if for no other reason to give yourself an in depth understanding and perspective of what our law enforcement officers really face day to day. You have a responsibility as a citizen to also have a working knowledge of what these men and women go through. This is real, this is raw and this is reality. The material is not for the faint of heart or any individual who wants to live in a bubble. It is, however, a page turning depiction of real life that is fascinating and worth every moment of your time spent.

I am not a huge reader but recently purchased a kindle. A friend told me about Zach Fortier's book. I started reading exert on facebook, I was intrigued. I have always loved true crime stories. When I was told that the kindle version was out yesterday I immediately downloaded it. I started reading, when I finally settled down for the night I actually took this book to bed with me, (not something I usually do), I read until 1am. Very intriguing got up this morning and started again. I love the way Zach pulls you into each story.

Book Review: CurbCheck by Zach Fortier,
This review is from: CurbCheK (Paperback)
When approached to read and review Zach Fortier's CurbChek, I was intrigued. I love "cop drama" books and read a lot of them. What interested me most is that the book is based on real events in the life of a policeman. Each chapter of CurbChek is a different story/case in Zach's cop life. It includes life and death violence, drugs, station politics, rules of the street and what it's really like to be a cop in the city. I found it fascinating. While the book isn't one "story," in the sense that it has a beginning, middle and end, it is cohesive in that it is about the life of one person. The book is well-written and easy to read. I'm not a huge fan of the "colorful" language but I understand that's how it really is in police work. I highly recommend reading CurbChek for a reality check on what life is like for a cop on the street.

Fantastic Book,
This review is from: Curbchek (Kindle Edition)
There is just one word for this book. Amazing. I'm not usually big on police story books but this one really blew me away. The author gets right to the nitty gritty and doesn't get bogged down in procedural stuff that most of us wouldn't understand. The stories in this book range from heart breaking to scary to funny. Mr. Fortier tells it like is and draws you into the inside world of being a police officer on the street dealing with everything from mundane traffic stops to swat stand offs. I'm very excited to read his next book also. I'm sure it will be just as great if not better.

I remember the author contacting me to read his book. He had me interested with the little bit that he had shared with me in the e-mail. I knew that the book was going to come in the mail at some point just didn't know when. Then I got the book in the mail. Loved the cover, loved the way his style of writing. He is a great author. He does not pussy foot around a subject. I found that extremely refreshing! This is not a book for everyone I must say. If you don't like the harsh reality of Mr. Fortier's work then you will not enjoy this book at all. To see what police officers have to face day to day was really eye opening for myself. I knew their job was not easy, I mean they have to face the lowest of the lows of society. See things that no one should ever have to see! It was a great book to read. I cannot give it enough accolades, I mean it was great! When I got the book it was right at the start of me making supper for the family. By the time I was done making supper and setting up the table I was a little more than half way through the book. During supper I wanted to pick up that book more than anything, but at lass I did not (don't want to make the hubby and kids mad!). I manged to read the book in 6 hours. Now that is saying something about the book. The book had me going through a bunch of emotions, there were times I was laughing, crying, cringing, mad, etc. I really cannot go with how different emotions I went through. There are some stories in there that I think about and wonder how everything worked out for those victims and those that were the criminal. This is an awesome book. I cannot say enough praises for this book. After I read it, and my husband was completely blown away that I read the book so fast, wanted to read it for himself. He read it in a couple of days (with work and sleep). He enjoyed the book also. He liked how the book had individual cases but at the all tied together and made the book interesting and brought the book together. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. Please remember if you are to read this book he does not skirt around the subjects he is real and he let's you see what it is all about. ****I was given a copy of this book for my honest review****

When entertainment meets reality,
This review is from: Curbchek (Kindle Edition)
This is a gritty, in your face real novel that takes you through a range of emotions: from hatred, disgust, sadness and sensible. I love how the story gives the first person view of working in law enforcement and what it takes to actually uphold the duty to protect and serve. The simplistic form of writing makes the story hard to put down. Riveting is an understatement. I would definitely recommend for anyone to read - but only if they can handle real world life stories!
