It's not a song that Mraz expected to win any Grammy Awards, top charts, or even spearhead his album, even though "Curbside Prophet" is the song from which the album derives it's name. Curbside Prophet, in and of itself, is designed to show another "color" of Mraz's broad musical spectrum. It's fun, it's clever, it's hip, and it just generally cheers you up. Prophet won't knock you to the floor with anything revolutionary, but it makes you happy that, in an age of crappy Hip-Hop dominating the radio waves, one radio-friendly artist still has creativity within his bones.

I'm always looking for something different in the world of music, and not much make me happier than genre fusion, as in this case, country rap. And while Mraz may not be the best rapper in the world, and struggles to fill gaps in some places, Mraz is still pretty good at crafting a song. His vocals match the song, the lyrics blend well, and the music is totally unexpected, but it fit at the same time. So while Mraz does his Willie Nelson style freestyle, you have a banjo constantly in the background, separating this song from all others like it. And unlike Cowboy Troy, this stuff is actually pretty good.

So overall, while not perfect, this song is still a pretty good listen, it's original, and done well. But while some will like this new-fangled hick hop/country rap, some will say, "What's up with M.R.A.Z.?"
