5.0 out of 5 stars Just plain fun!, February 5, 2001
This review is from: Curdled: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I bought this CD after coming across the movie on cable- I'd never heard of it before, but the music caught my attention, and I watched it to the end. When I saw there was a soundtrack available, I ordered it immediately! It's just a really great mix of songs that make you want to get up and shake it all over your house (as my sister and I usually do when I pop this one into the CD player) (yes we're dorks). I especially love "Cumbia Del Surf", it reminds me of a song I heard as a child. If you've never bought any Latin music before but want to start somewhere (other than with Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony or Jennifer Lopez), this is a great one to begin with!

5.0 out of 5 stars Light the fuse & stand well clear...., February 23, 2001

All in all, a pretty awesome find. The raw stinging flavors of the songs are hotter than chilli, colder than ice, and the rhythms will have the dead dancing. I was sent this by a friend after saying I enjoyed the black humored film of the same name. The amazing collection on this CD captures perfectly the raw energy and passion Ricky Martin only managed to hint at on "Livin' La Vida Loca" and has failed to capture since. This is the real deal, not the sanitized over-produced sickly-safe "pop version" of Latin and S. American music for 13 year olds as purveyed by Martin, Lopez & Co.

Quentin Tarantino has a knack of unearthing gems for the soundtracks of films he's involved with (Pulp Fiction, Dusk Till Dawn etc.) and this is no exception.

My favourite here is Marta Sanchez & Slash doing "Obsession Confession", which totally blows away everything on "Supernatural" by Santana.

Put this on at a party and you won't have to wait long for the riot squad to arrive.

I stupidly lent this to a DJ friend last week and the entire club was almost trashed in under an hour with everyone dancing on the tables, the bar, the roofs of cars outside;

We're gonna try it again next weekend....
