Comic riffs from the hit Off-Broadway show that landed Denis gigs with MTV and various Nike commercials, most notably the one with Bo Jackson ("I think you hear me comin' ") that he sneers all the way through. But then, Denis is always sneering! Funny guy, though.
Denis Leary's stance as an unregenerate, chain-smoking, meat-eating, angry young man is intense, to say the least. But his act made him a star for one reason: His jokes are funny. No Cure for Cancer
is drawn mostly from Leary's one-man show of the same name, which is full of tough love for '90s therapy-addicted crybabies, and no-holds-barred advice for idiots (which is to say, anyone who gets in Leary's way). Head for the hills when he picks up a guitar, as he does on several ill-advised comedic songs here, but listen up when Leary's straight talk makes perfect (and hilarious) sense. To crack addicts, for example, his message is simple: "Never do a drug named after a part of your own ass." --Daniel Durchholz
