5.0 out of 5 stars A few hidden extras...
Okay people, I found all of the extras, so it's time to update them for you.

First, go to the song select. There is a star that will be highlighted, before "Boys Don't Cry." This star does absolutely nothing that I have found.

There is a hidden star after "Just Say Yes" that shows the "Greatest Hits" album cover.

Despite what other reviewers have said this dvd is not 5.1 surround sound i am more than a little dissapointed. The music obviously still is very good ill leave the videos up to the viewers interpretation. You might want to just buy the greatest hits cd although i dont know if it has all the same songs.

Now for the real extras...

"The Caterpillar"
Highlight "The Walk" and press down, right, right.

"Close To Me (Closer Mix)"
Highlight "Close To Me" and press up, up, up.

"Pictures Of You"
Highlight "Friday I'm In Love" and press down, down, down.

All 18 videos are under Title 1, Chapters, 1-18.
All 6 acoustic videos are under Title 2, Chapters 1-6.
The Cover of the Greatest Hits album is under Title 3, Chapter 1.

There are three bonus videos:

"The Caterpillar" is under Title 4, Chapter 1.
"Pictures of You" is under Title 5, Chapter 1.
"Close to Me (Closer Mix)" is under Title 6, Chapter 1.

All of the videos, including the live and hidden videos are available in both 5.1 and stereo mixes. Now if only they would release the rest of them on DVD...

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised, July 24, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Cure - Greatest Hits (DVD)
I've always liked listening to The Cure, having grown up with their music. However I realized after seeing this for sale that I had never actually seen any of their music videos (save High and maybe Lovecats randomly on late night MTV). My opinion of the band has grown to a new level since purchasing this DVD. I have to start out by saying that everything on this DVD maintains the creative and emotion-evoking qualities I have grown to love from this band. Even the menu is cool how its over-saturated, moody dark blue tones are backdrop to a single, slowly spinning star. The experience is hard to define as anything but very Cure-ish. It's also fun to watch the videos chronologically as the band develops its artistic style. Seeing A Forest for the first time I couldn't believe how buttoned down and conservative they looked! The sound is also awesome. Listening to the songs in Dolby 5.1 really allows you to hear how layered and complex they really are (the songs not the band). Anyway, I would definitely recommend this DVD to anyone who is at all interested in The Cure. The video quality is superb (especially the acoustic songs) and hearing the songs in 5.1 makes it that much better. I'm totally glad I bought this disc and will enjoy watching it for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hi,i missed EVERYTHING!, November 11, 2002
By
hi,i am a 13 year old boy, who's favorite band is The Cure, and no i'm not depressed,so in other words i missed the prime of my favorites band.Over my summer breaks and winter breaks i wathc video's all the time, but never see a cure video hardly at all (as a matter of fact i have seen one cure video, and it was "friday i'm in love")Anyway, this video changed all this for me,i now can see the video's to pretty much all my favorite cure songs on this video, except for "jump someone elses train"&"drip"(which both should have been included)well anyway as i said i am a 13 year old kid who's favorite band is the cure, and this video has made me even more of a fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars a good collection for a good price, December 30, 2001

This review is from: The Cure - Greatest Hits (DVD)
I am not a HUGE Cure fan, but I like them enough to want to own this dvd. I was impressed when I put it in my player. While the packaging doesn't mention that a 5.1 mix is included, it is. I have bought a few music dvd's that just say "Dolby Digital" that only contain a 2-channel mix. (The Eurythmics dvd even had a sticker that said there was a 5.1 mix but the disc contained only a stereo track!)

The video quality is good, the surround mix is well done (and a 2-channel version is also included).

I really like the acoustic versions. The accompanying video doesn't look that strange to me...no more strange than the Cure usually looks. (That's a good thing!)

What puts this at a 5-star level for me is that it has a generous number of tracks (not even including the hidden "easter egg" tracks) and a good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars good but could be better, November 13, 2004
This review is from: The Cure - Greatest Hits (DVD)
This collection came out to reflect the greatest hits release so I understand that it isnt supose to be a complete video collection. The missing videos besides the hidden one's are some of their greatest videos like charolette sometimes, primary, the hanging garden, the 13th, fascination street, 10:15 on a staurday night, jumping some one elses train, killing an arab. These are all great videos and hopefully some day they will see dvd release. the quality seemed really bad on the transefer to dvd especially on just like heaven where it doesn't seem like they were remastered at all. If only this could of had the same care as on the trilogy dvd. I will still give this 5 stars becuse its the cure and is still enjoyable and thank god it has love cats and the catepillar. I still love it but it leaves much to be desired. Its sad to see the aging of robert smith but it revives the wonderfulness of what the 80's had music wise. If only more kids support cure-like pop. and yes the acoustic set is cool

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, January 15, 2004
This review is from: The Cure - Greatest Hits (DVD)
I became a huge fan of the Cure recently and decided to pick up this DVD containing videos for all the songs on their "Greatest Hits." Well, let me tell you, it is wonderful and amazing! Their videos are all extremely interesting, vibrant, colorful, mysterious, fun, and unique! Quite unlike virtually all music videos made today. The Cure put time, effort, and a lot of thought into making these mini-movie masterpieces, and it is quite apparent on this DVD. Oh yes, and the acoustic extras are a real treat.

The only thing I'm not a big fan of on this DVD is the song selection. There is absolutely nothing from Faith and Pornography, the two best Cure albums behind Disintegration, while there are three tracks from Japanese Whispers, an EP that isn't available in the US. The DVD heavily (and almost entirely) favors the happy, poppy Cure over anything else. Not that there's anything wrong with the pop Cure (I still love it), but the Cure really did their best work on albums such as Pornography and Faith and it would be very nice to see videos for those songs, as well as more from Disintegration. If you're one of those people who can't STAND poppy Cure, stay far away from this DVD.

Bottom line: ESSENTIAL for Cure fans who enjoy the poppy side as well as the dark.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Cure Greatest Hits - DVD, April 22, 2005
By
This review is from: The Cure - Greatest Hits (DVD)
Great DVD, music and all. Interesting to watch Robert Smith morph from his early stages to the present.

The best part of the DVD collection is the Acoustic renditions of the music and I only wish they would have showed all the songs that are in the CD played acoustically on the DVD. Watching them live and listening to this variation on the music is fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Collection!, January 2, 2005
This review is from: The Cure - Greatest Hits (DVD)
From the age of 12, I have been lulled by the sounds of The Cure. This DVD set gave me a real insight into the mind of Rober Smith & his "motley crew." I had only seen a handful of their videos & this opened a world of creativity I had never known. All the big songs are here & Robert draws you in to see the world the way he sees it. Again, awesome collection.
