5.0 out of 5 stars A Macrobiotic Pot of Gold, January 5, 2002
This book saved my life! This is not a book to read lightly. Use highlighters & make notes. It is packed with a plethora of information that will assist anyone with a chronic condition. Dr Rogers spent a couple of years with Michio Kushi & watched & learned as he counselled chronic & terminal clients. This book explains techniques & foods that one cannot find in typical macrobiotic books. How much of this should I use? How often? If I'm craving this, what am I missing? What does this symptom mean? What is this food doing for my body? How important is this in my diet? How do I make this? What is a healing crisis? What is a healing phase? How do I put it all together? How do I begin? How do I keep it going? What do I do when I get discouraged/cravings/busy/bored? All this is answered & more - Dr Rogers speaks of supplement deficiencies that will cause certain disorders or symptoms (remember, we're dealing with chronically ill situations here that have long standing deficiencies of such great degree that balance can only be achieved through the use of supplementation). Learn what mineral deficiencies can cause high cholesterol regardless of your diet. Learn which mineral is deficient in 80% of North Americans (& causes tension, constipation, muscle knots & road rage). I rarely read a book more than once (relying on highlighted material for reference), but this book has been my bedside companion for many a year, helping me through MCS and its companion symptoms. No other diet has given me the peace, centredness & relationship with my body as has macrobiotics, but I was never able to fully appreciate what the diet could do for me until I read this book. If you have the courage to leave behind all the trappings of the typical Western diet, this book will show you how, with effort & organization & understanding, how you can make every cell in your body cry out for joy, finally able to function at their optimum level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sherry was my doctor!, February 2, 2001
By susiesunshine (Syracuse, New York) - See all my reviews
Sherry Rogers was my doctor for a number of years. She was always ahead of her time and now it shows! All of her books are wonderful, informative, easy to read and life saving. I hope everyone gets as much from this and all her books as I have. You'll be amazed at how much you DON'T know about your body, the environment and how we are killing ourselves until you read these books. Trust me, I am only a consumer here, but I pass these books on to everyone I care about and have for years! I'm going to post this to all the books I have read by Sherry. I just can't say enough about this woman. She literally saved my life (allergies, life and health threatening mineral and vitamin deficiencies) and my husband's too (bladder cancer). Love, Susan Manchester

2.0 out of 5 stars Macro central, September 21, 2005
Having never read this author before, I did not know she was a macrobiotics enthusiast. I just wanted some general information on improving my diet. I'm not interested in macrobiotics. However, in perusing the book, it seemed to be very detailed and comprehensive. It also seemed to be very labor intensive. If you're into macrobiotics, I guess it's a labor of love. It just wasn't for me.
