1.0 out of 5 stars A cynical, poorly executed ripoff., January 10, 2010

This is an amazingly crappy product, consisting of a cheap plastic nose, ear and teeth, elmer's glue, food coloring, and little else. If your child is at all interested in science he/she will find this kit meaningless - mucus isn't made of elmer's glue and green dye - and if he/she isn't this kit will ensure that they remain that way. There are only three "experiments" in the kit, generally consisting of mixing white glue with food coloring and smearing it on a plastic facial feature. The kit designers seem to have come up with the packaging first and only added the contents as an afterthought. There's also a big potential for kids to get food coloring all over their clothes and your house, and I suspect it will permanently stain most surfaces.

My grandsons are getting older (between 10-12) and are getting harder to find things for that are not just clothes. This is just the type of thing they like -- disgusting things like spit & snot. Will give them something to do after Christmas when all the other stuff is broken and they are tired of being outside.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm...., November 18, 2009

Let's just say it's not what I expected. Reading the description on Amazon, though, at least the manufacturer can't be accused of false advertising. Three experiments are described, and the enclosed booklet contains exactly that - three experiments.

Somehow I thought there would be more than one thing to try for each the ear, nose, and teeth. But I guess earwax, snot, and halitosis don't offer much variety - maybe "healthy" versus "sick snot"?

I also objected to the use of white glue for very different bodily substances in each of the three experiments.

While the large box size was easily three times larger than necessary for the contents, there seem to be enough ingredients to perform each experiment more than once. Many items can easily be replenished from most pantries, which is also good. The instruction booklet was brightly colored and easy to follow.

Though it is barely worth the $7.99 each I paid at another website, I'm glad I got three. If I'd purchased at the original $35 selling price or even the $24 and change here at Amazon, they'd be going back via return mail.
