Sloppy Pastiche,
By
This review is from: Curious George at the Aquarium (Hardcover)
H.A. and Margret Rey did not write or illustrate this book. It is one of the 2007 "New Adventures" and should not to be confused with Curious George Goes to the Aquarium (1984).
It gets an extra star because my toddler likes the book. However, I think it is poorly written and the text sometimes does not match what is pictured. For example, when George is pictured climbing a tree next to a wall, the book says he jumped over a gate. In another scene, George swings out over a tank of water in the penguin exhibit. The text says it is a "beluga tank". Beluga whales made an appearence earlier in the story but are not present in the scene. While these faults may be minor, they stand out in a short book. I also think it shows a carelesss by the publisher.

Not Written by the Reys, and It Shows,

This review is from: Curious George at the Aquarium (Paperback)
I love Curious George, but this book is just poorly written. It's written by Anderson, not Margret and H.A. Rey, and the style is disjointed and odd. The pictures are good and my daughter still enjoys it, but we thought it was an original Rey book when we bought it. Not hardly.

We like Curious George, but this story seems a little forced. It isn't simple and cute like some of the others we like (Curious George goes to the Zoo, Curious George and the Pizza). It is very wordy and kind of confusing because the pictures don't really match what is happening. I don't usually give books a bad review, but even my son doesn't ask me to read this one that often.

Should have read recent reviews- this is basically a poorly scanned in copy of the book with the words retyped beneath it. I am very disappointed. Berenstain bears and Thomas were not this way so I was totally surprised.

This is the worst Curious George book I have ever read... the description on Amazon is misleading. It was NOT written by the Rey's!! The pictures are nothing like the other books, the storyline is blah and as others wrote, there is a mismatch between some pictures and their text. Plus, the text is a hard read. Really disappointed!!

Curious George is a classic that all kids will love,

I loved this book, the storyline was just the right length to hold my 2 year old daughter's very short attention span. Curious George is a classic and what little one doesn't love a mischievous monkey? Also to note, the book is paperback, it is worth the money though, because if your kid destroys it, you are only out $4.

If your kid loves george they will love this book. A cute story about Georges day at the aquarium. Always getting caught up in some kind of mischief george is at it again letting his curiosity get the best of him.

Along with Clifford and Biscuit books, my 4 yr old grandson loves all the Curious George books, including this one. They are great for him and any children just learning to read.

My daughter, 3, enjoys these books despite the tirelessly recurring theme of monkey messes up, monkey makes good. This one only mildly annoyed me because they make him a hero for solving only a small part of the problem he caused. Whatever. I just prefer the older Curious George stuff.
