About the Author

Louise Borden is the highly regarded author of many books, including Good Luck, Mrs. K!, Sleds on Boston Common, Good-bye, Charles Lindbergh and The Little Ships: The Heroic Rescue at Dunkirk in WW II--all published by Margaret McElderry Books. Across the Blue Pacific is based on the true story of her uncle, Theodore Taylor Walker, who served aboard the USS Albacore (SS-218) during World War II. She lives with her husband, Pete, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has three grown children. Her website can be found at www.louiseborden.com.

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.

As a child this was one of my favorite characters; luckily I can now share with my grandchildren. This is a great illustrated book.

This is the book that came before the Curious George series and one of the 9 monkeys is George. H.A.'s publisher suggested that his next book focus on George and rest is history! The story is a little crazy and not as good as the later 7 CG books but because it has George in it, it is worth buying...especially if you love "all things George"!

I remember this book so well from my own childhood and was pleased to see it still in print so I could buy it for my grandchildren.
