5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good as the original stories

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the original illustrations!
This book is a huge disappointment! Very poorly illustrated and looks like a third rate copy machine job with pages and then the words all repeated below. Very surprised copyright would allow this degradation of the wonderful original. This looks like a pirated remake. Amazon should screen for such misuse. Not illustrated by the authors but "in the style of". This is...

To date my daughter has been reading the "Curious George" books that belonged to my husband when he was a child. I was a little skeptical that the newly written stories would capture the same spirit as those written more than 30 years ago. However, my daughter absolutely loved it especially as both the storyline and the illustrations were more detailed than usual and made it fun for her to point out different things and extend into a discussion with us about beaches, lifesaving etc. Like her other "George" books she has reread this one over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life's a Beach ...George!!, December 29, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book and Curious George himself takes me back to a gentler time. A time when I was young and a time when my son was young. He and I LOVE to read all about George's silly mishaps daily.

This book was an automatic favorite because we live in Rhode Island and live at the beach in the summer. So he would always take this book and his george doll down in his bag. These stories are filled with laughter and love, two things a child can't get enough of and there is usually even a good manners lesson taught to George too that they don't soon forget.

So, any of the Curious George series is a winner with our family...and we don't even live near the "man with the yellow hat". lol*

Have fun and make each night a night you read to your child...it's so important. I even read to him in the womb each night. He talked early and certainly knew my voice almost immediately.

A winner any way you look at it. : ) Thank you George.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth getting separately, September 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Curious George Goes to the Beach (Curious George 8x8) (Hardcover)
This probably varies a lot child to child, but my 3 year old daughter is part fish and loves the beach. She also loves Curious George. But to buy the books individually can be pretty expensive. Which is why we own the two Curious George collections and have been reading them to our daughter since she was 2. For the money, you can't beat getting 16 stories for a fraction of the cost of buying them separately. But CG Goes to the Beach is not included in either of the two collections, and being that my daughter loves the beach, I gave in and bought this one individually. It's typical CG humor and every bit as good as any of the stories in the collections and, for us, definitely worth buying separately.

I was trying to get my daughter to settle in for the night and she was "curious" about my new kindle. She loves anything curious george at the moment, and I thought this was a great price for an e-book that will keep her entertained. A must for any curious george fan.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont buy this for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, July 31, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Don't buy this if you have the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The format of this particular book is as follows:
- The first page will contain what appears to be a scanned page from the original book with extremely small text.
- The next page will contain an exact duplicate of the text from the previous scanned page.
The remaining pages follow this pattern through out the remainder of the book.

What a waste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for kids to learn English, July 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My kids love curious George, he comes up with the same crazy adventures they do. The ratio illustrations / text is very even and the illustrations are very clear. We don't speak English in the house, but the kids learn a lot of English when we read the books to them. They hear the words and see the pictures - it all makes sense to them.
And it is very entertaining for the grown-ups, too !
