About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.

My 22 month old son loves to watch Curious George so of course I bought a few books. Out of the 4 Curious George books, this is by far his favorite. He'll ask for it by name. George...Ice cream. Great addition to our book collection.

Cute story, but why does Mr. Herb have to get so mad? He left a monkey alone with a ton of ice cream, what did he think was going to happen? He really looked like he was going to lose it. I was also disappointed in the pictures, they seemed like a high school kid's interpretation of Curious George, rather than the usual one. My 2.5 year old still liked it, but it's definitely not the best.

My daughter loves Curious George, so I tend to buy any of the George books. This is the first one that disappoints. It does not start off with "This is George. He was a good little monkey and always very curious.". I also feel like Mr. Herb gets a little too angry at George--so I usually just change the story a little for my 2 year olds ears The illustrations are also not the originals.

Picture books on Kindle with text and picture on same page have been difficult for me to find. But this particular Curious George title is absolutely perfection for Kindle grayscale. It's perfect in Fire too!
My grandkids love it. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

The George books are all awesome! Our 4 year-old son has liked every one, and we've liked them. They're pretty quick and easy reading, takes 3-5 minutes to complete, depending on how long he want's to look at each page after you're done reading them. But they are good, cute stories, just like the shows, he laughs out loud and comments quite a bit as we're reading. If you watch the show and haven't read any of the books before, they are very similar in style and look to each other, as close as a kids book to a kids show can be. No one book has been any better or worse than any of the others, they're all very good. We will probably end up buying them all.

Curious George is a favorite of my kids and my adult disabled sister. We ordered these books to give her for Christmas and her birthday and the kids are begging to read them before we give them to her. We love Curious George. However, this particular copy gets lower ratings because the book was listed as being in good condition but came with a 3 inch by 1 inch coffee stain on all but the first page. I guess the first owner of the book liked a little Curious George with his breakfast.

I've always enjoyed Curious George as a little girl. There's never a dull moment reading all of the clever and fun adventures of Curious George. It is amazing of all the lively humor this little monkey can bring to so many young children. I highly recommend the Curious George series to anyone for a child who enjoys a good story.
