Book Description

4 and upCurious George
It's open house at George's school, and George gets to try his hand at painting in the art room. What he creates, however, is not a pretty picture! George is still a clever monkey, though, and in the end, he makes the open house a happy occasion for everyone.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 2--There seems to be no end to this perennially naughty little monkey's adventures. Here are four new stories in which George finds trouble because of his curiosity, and in doing so manages to save the day. Two books show a female dentist and a male art teacher. The quality of the stories and pictures, while on par with the other 20 odd books made from the Curious George film series, are in no way as imaginative or enduring as H. A. Rey's originals. However, children love George and never seem to tire of the repetitious plots or less than distinguished illustrations.

About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.

1.0 out of 5 stars Curious George Goes to School, September 17, 2000
Story and graphics were poor. This is just a bunch of screen shots from the curious george movies, and has no real story line. Any of the books that are derived from the movies seem to have similar problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do you like books about people getting trouble?, April 15, 2011
A Kid's Review
By: B.H.

Do you like books about people getting trouble? If you do you Curious George Goes to School is a book for you. This book is about a monkey named George and a man in a yellow hat. In the beginning the man in the yellow hat takes George to school. When they get to school George likes his teacher. In the middle the man in the yellow hat goes to talk to the teacher. Uh-oh! Will George get in to trouble? To find out read this book.
My favorite part is when George spills the paint and it gets all over him. I would recommend this book to people who like mischief.
