About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.

My son loves Curious George and rockets, so this is a perfect book for him. It's very small in size and the "pages" are that thick cardboard with glossy graphics. So he can hold it, turn the pages easily and we can read it several times in one sitting.

My 5- and 3-year old sons enjoy this book. They received it at the same time they received a Curious George play rocket, so the storybook was very complementary to the toy. The story is simply told and wonderfully paced, and that monkey sure wins you over.

My children have already memorized this book. they love george's adventures and I like the simplicity of the sentences that tell a fun story. i also like the creativity/question section at the end to encourage young readers to think about the story.

I love the Curious George series however this book was hard to read. There are two sets of words on this e book which makes it really hard to follow. This story is a 5 star story and H. A. Rey is a wonderful author. The quality of this ebook is 2 stars. Doubling up the words makes it hard to read.

I agree with others about the poor formatting of this ebook. I bought it for the KindleHD and because of the poor formatting, it is very difficult to read and enjoy. For example, two copies of text on the page and images and text split across multiple pages. I do not recommend purchasing. I returned immediately.

I guess this book is great for small children but I was expecting a full size book but it was 4x4 in size if that. And George goes up in the rocket but parachutes out of it which brought on the question of "how did George get the door open" from my older son. Gee, I don't know but that was talented of him.

A fun little board book, I was worried my 3 year old was getting a little old for it. However, the story it's self is fairly descriptive and "long" for a board book so it has been a good quick sit down read with him. And he loves talking about rockets blasting off!
