This review is from: Curlicues: The Fortunes of Two Pug Dogs (Hardcover)
This a really cute story about two pug dogs who begin their lives together, are sold to two very different owners and through a series of coincidences end up together again in the same household. The illustrations are charming. A must have for pug lovers of all ages. I wish they would republish.

This is a delightful tale of two pugs, the different paths their lives lead them, and how they end up together once again. It's a wonderful story that they really should republish.

Being a member of a family that has owned two Pugs, I can attest that the author explicated the personality of the breed perfectly, as well as the devotion that develops between loving owners and their dogs. The illustrations are indeed charming, and quite accurate: one of the best is the final illustration showing one of the Pugs sleeping on top of the other, which is something Pugs do. My only complaint is that the Pugs themselves do not seem to be the focus of the story, but instead the "housekeeper-cook" Mrs. Hart and the "plump old lady" Mrs. Downey. No truer words, however, were written than those on page 7: "For [the Pugs'] bulging eyes shone with a ready affection, their wrinkled faces often seemed to laugh, and their tails were doubly curled with high spirits and good humor. Then how could they fail to please all folk who possessed a good measure of those happy virtues themselves?"
