5.0 out of 5 stars lyrical and fast-paced suspense
Marilyn Wallace writes as well or better than any other author out there! This book has such gorgeous prose I absolutely reveled in it--or would have, if I hadn't been in such a hurry to turn pages. Whew, what a heart-thumping plot! I loved this book, probably my favorite of her books--and that's really saying A LOT!

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst I've read!
I cannot recommend this book. The only character I liked was the stepmother. I had no sympathy for Claudia at all. Except for her fondness for her brother, she had no redeeming qualities. While it kept me guessing about whodunit, I read the ending midway through just to get it over with. I have never read this author before, and I don't think that I will again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good suspense thriller, February 1, 1998

This review is from: Current Danger (Hardcover)
Claudia Miller owns the Lower Manhattan independent building contractor world. The feisty Claudia dually enjoys and loathes her projects. However, she soon realizes that a serial killer is apparently enacting revenge against the people who worked on a rehabilitation project sixteen years ago that was destroyed by arson, leaving behind the body of a corrupt electrician's union official. Relatives of anyone associated with Claudia and the Mercer Street fiasco are being systematically murdered with some item linked to electricity.

Claudia is shocked when her father and her step-brother are attacked by the unknown assailant. Soon Murray Kurtz, who saved Claudia's career after the Mercer Street fiasco, is suffocated to death by electrical tape glued to his entire body. As more innocent victims are killed, Claudia is jolted into action because she knows that she must stop a psychopath before he kills her entire family and completes his circuit by making her his final casualty.

Claudia, who will electrify readers, is one of the best of the current amateur sleuths (of either gender) available on the market today. The story line is fast-paced and the swinging Lower Manhattan adds its usual colorful background. However, compared with the city and Claudia, everyone else seems too shallow, failing to hold up their part of the novel. Still, readers who enjoy amateur female sleuths will want to read Marilyn Wallace's CURRENT DANGER because overall the book is an entertaining tale of revenge set in an upbeat part of town.
