Excellent Medicine Book,
By Umber76 (Brookline, MA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2001 (Paperback)
This is a "must have" text for any student of medicine. It has all the information one needs for ward rounds, presentations, and exams. Medicine is an ever-evolving field and this book keeps up with all the latest developments. The references are conveniently given at the end of each section so the student can easily look up the most relevant articles. I especially like the "Essentials of Diagnosis" that precedes each disease entity and summarizes the key points. However this book is very much clinical/management-oriented. It does not have pictures/slides nor does it cover pathophysiology (for that, Harrison's is a better book).

Comprehensive and Thorough,
This review is from: Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment : 2000 Revised (Paperback)
Current Medicine is right up there among the top few reference books. It has excellent chapters in Cardiology, Infectious diseases and Respiratory medicine. One of the key features is the references of the latest articles at the end of every topic that is covered. This is book is worth every cent that is spent to buy it, a truly productive investment of time and money....a must buy for students who want to ace their exams.

Must have!,
By "c1975" (Miami, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment 2003 (Paperback)
It is VERY nice book. Especially for medical students and residents. You can understand from detail to basic of diseases. With this book, you know how to approach and make your list of differential diagnosis. I worked for infectious disease patients for a while, and this book was very useful because you can get the general knowledge not only about infectious diseases but also general internal medicine, skin lesions, bone diseases, and so on. I especially recommend the chart of antibiotics(Chart 37). I like this book because we can also get the update etiology of diseases. So nice.

I bought this book based on the recommendations of the other reviewers and I have been endlessly impressed. It is excellent value for money. The research and references are up to date and all the information is set out in the most logical manner. I bought it as a second year Naturopathic student and have used it almost daily when dealing with all my subjects. Any students out there hesitating, don't... BUY THIS BOOK.

This book is excellent for medium depth diagnostic information, with great emphasis on current level one treatment recommendations. Contains most current guidelines for treatment and references, without having to pull the journal. Highly recommended for therapeutic recommendations.

A Well-Organized Reference,
By A Customer
This review is from: Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment : 2000 Revised (Paperback)
This book helps me understand, in more depth, medical conditions experienced by me, or my family. Even issues about pregnancy and menopause are covered in useful fashion. It's also a handy reference for times when I've forgotten my doctor's exact instructions. I would not recommend using it to self-diagnose, as there are many conditions that can only be accurately diagnosed by lab tests, or someone skilled in the field. It has, however, helped us determine when to seek a physician's advice, which kept minor illnesses from becoming serious ones.

This book packs in all the important aspects of client treatment into each section. The headings are a little hard to see when skimming, but the information is excellent. A must have for Nurse Practitioner school!

It is a very good and useful book. It has everything you'd want in it plus more. It includes the signs and syptoms, what you can do to treat the problem, etc. I just wish that it had pictures in it so you could have more to go off of.
