These are great lights. I purchased two 24-36 inch for a 55 gallon aquarium(18 inches deep) with live plants to replace some old florescent bulbs. I can control both with one remote and they stay synced for the most part. The lights themselves are relatively small about 1.5 inches wide by 23 inches long (the light case is 24x3.5x.5 inches)but reach every part of the tank with no dark spots. The top side gets pretty hot while the lights stay cooler. I would say that these light could grow low to moderate light plants mine seems to have perked up. The only bad thing i can say is it would have been nice to have a timer, so different modes could come on or off at different times.

Nice dynamic modes with awesome fade effects that go in and out of every color spectrum. There are three different lunar cycles Clear blue with fading, a softer blue that doesn't fade as much, then a fading pale blue with cloud cover effect. There is also a dawn/dusk effect. Four Cloud Cover effects which have different brightness and faster fading effects to mimic more or less cloud cover. Then the Rain/Lightning effects which there are three of, two of them are in the lunar phase one with faster strikes the other with slower and the third one which is in bright light which is a slower strike. There is also one more dynamic effect which is a fade through all colors.

There are also six different non fading spectrum 6500k/orange, 6500k/blue, 6500k/rose pink, 6500k/white, 6500k/purple and full spectrum which is all lights on basically.

You can also create your own modes by adjusting how much of RBG+brightness you want.

I just got this fixture for my 100 gallon 60 inch long X 20 deep tank. I was a little worried that this light would not be enough for my tank since the fixture is only 48 inches long. Fortunately it is just right! I currently have the light sitting directly on top of the tank and it lights up the whole tank just fine (no dark sides).
The light is surprisingly thin and not very wide either. Much smaller than the compact fluorescent it replaced.
The extension arms a a little flimsy when fully extended an do not keep the light from touching the top of the tank, so I have the arms extended about halfway. Eventually I will put this in a canopy.

Despite being LED the fixture does get warm, but not nearly as hot as my compact fluorescent which required a fan.

The best feature is the different lighting schemes you can use via the wireless remote. Moat of the color changing effects are nice and subtle, and I am currently using the "cloud cover" mode which simulates a partially cloudy day. The lighting mode is cool, but I can't imagine using it too often.

About the only thing missing would be a timer or some programmable features that would automatically take the light from sun rise to full sun to sunset and to night. It would be the perfect light then.

As far as growing plant, I don't have much experience with that, but would guess that it's not bright enough for my particular setup, but wouls probably work for a shallower tank, maybe 16 inches or so?

Bottom line, for this price point and functionality, I think this is the best LED fixture on the market right now.

The only thing missing from these lights is being able to set the lights to change a certain times of the day. For example if you could set them to sunrise in the morning and dawn, and changing to night time with as night falls in my time zone. Other than that my fish seem to love the lighting effects.

Novelty, the quality of being new and unique. Does this apply to this product, or is this product actually useful? Let's find out.

I originally evaluated this product last month. At that time, I was comparison-shopping (cross-shopping) this product with the Finnex Ray 2 DS. I liked both products, but eventually chose the Finnex because of its higher light output and the superior design of its fixture. I carefully compared the two fixtures prior to making my decisions. Fortunately, I had access to people who owned both brands. And while their tanks were different from what I have, the dimensions were close enough for me to clearly discern the characters of both lights.

What I wrote down on my review of the Finnex Ray 2 DS still holds true today. And for that particular tank, were I choosing today, I would make the same choice. The Finnex simply had what I needed on that tank. Namely, to supply life-giving light energy to some very challenging plants like Dwarf Baby Tears, Needle Leaf Rotala, and Dwarf Hairgrass.

However, I was also intrigued by the Current USA Freshwater LED +. So, when the opportunity came to set up another tank, I ordered it. Amazon delivered the package, I received, unpacked and installed. The Current now sits on top of a 30-inch tank, with adjustable legs extended from the 24" body of the fixture. The tank has one dwarf, flame gourami. No gravel. Yes, this tank is a work-in-process. The plan is to eventually populate this tank with Peacock Gudgeons.

The fixture of the Current is not quite as nice as that of the Finnex. The black body and those bent-wire legs do not make an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
