5 stars? When the characters in a novel grab me heart and mind as did CURRENTS OF VENGEANCE,that is an automatic 4-star read for me. Arleen Alleman took my adventurous spirit for a spine-tingling ride this time with her storyline. She deepened my respect for her story-telling skills by delighting me with historical tidbits as her characters explored the sites of many South American cities. Engrossed, totally caught up in the enigma of the plot, I once again became the main character, Darcy, as she dealt with all manner of frightening events and subterfuge...especially those inexplicable psychological undercurrents going on within Mick. Oh yes, a 5-star+ read!

Great story and love the historic sites described at each port stop. Exciting drama and mystery. Alleman knows how to keep her readers glued to the page. Easy yet interesting reading make for great entertainment. Might have to schedule my own cruise vacation soon. Highly recommend this book to all novel-lovers. Fun, exciting and educational!

In Currents Deep and Deadly we got to know fascinating characters, thought of them as friends, and now we hope they survive another terrifying cruise. Relationships between her lover, her friends, and her daughter are jeopardized by forces Darcy can't control. The author explores the effects of trauma on rational minds and helps readers identify with her characters.

The author also addresses the issue of cruise ship security and safety in this novel. As Americans we normally feel protected by the laws of our country, but who protects us when we sail in international waters? If a ship runs into a reef or a murder occurs onboard, who is in charge of the investigation?

I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy a thought-provoking novel filled with danger and romance.
