<< How often to Recharge >>
I was told by the Currie Customer Service (Chatsworth, California) that "To maximize the life of a Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery, you should drain it completed for three times first, then recharge it overnight after each subsequent ride". It was a bad advice; it made my battery die after first drain. Then I bought a new battery from Amazon. Now I follow the instruction from manufacture --- Charge it fully before first use; then recharge it to full after each subsequent ride (regardless long or short) whenever possible. It also cautioned, if recharging overnight, always unplug in the morning, never leaving the battery in overcharging state for more than 24 hours. This will shorten the life of the battery. An environmental website regarding SLA batteries for eBikes has indicated that we had better not consume more than 50% of battery's capacity before recharging; this will greatly extend its life. Conversely, using 80, 90 and 100% of the capacity will greatly reduce the number of allowable charge cycles. << Connection Sequence >> I was also reminded by an authorized dealer of eZip bikes in Pasadena, CA that when recharging, always connect charger cable to the battery first; then plug charger to the wall outlet. After recharging, always unplug first, then disconnect charger from battery. This sequence will avoid unexpected damage to the charger and the battery.

Extra Battery for eZip Bicycle,

One of my concerns in riding an eBike was "getting caught" away from home with a dead battery. Further, knowing the distances offered as expected range on the eBikes assumed someone slightly less voluminous than me - that's a mild mannered way of stating I am somewhat rotund. So, it just made sense to have a second battery. This allows me to travel 1 battery's distance away from home, knowing I have a like amount of reserve energy to make it back. Fact is, since using the eBike, I've rarely had to use the second battery to make it home. No surprises with the eBike or the batteries - both work well, and I'm using the older SLA type of battery.m

I only charged it about 20 times, then my battery died.
Reminding: the currie tech only has 30 days warranty because they know the quaility of this battery is really bad.

It acts as a reserve tank, so I just flip the switch when one battery runs out of juice. Works great just do not make the mistake of leaving the battery on charge for over 24 hours (like owners manual warns you), I lost about 1/2 the capacity on a battery this way.

my first review was soemewhat positive, but the thing has already quite performing.
i HATE CURRIE Electronics, the only way i will ever deal with them again is if Amazon brings the price of the complete bike back down to 223$ they are good bikes, the grey batteries work good, but they cost over 200$ for a new one from Currie, the black ones are just NO GOOD>

I bought this as a second battery for my eZip bike. Ive had my old battery for a long time now, and its taking its fair share of charges, and doesnt quite last as long as it used to. so i went ahead and bought this one; id forgotten how much power and long lasting these batteries are brand new. there is no comparison. very happy with my purchase, in the future if i need another replacement, i wont hesitate to purchase another.

with or without pedaling i do not get more than 2-3 miles per charge here in phoenix. The bike is HEAVY and geared so low even going downhill pedaling hard as I can top speed is the same as with motor, seems the motor even when disengaged stops you from exceeding 15-17 mph. home to work on Fuji is about 12-15 minutes on this 15-20.

Battery fits my izip and looks like a nice addition. Very heavy though and quite cumbersome. Right now its in my room holding over for the winter time. Used it for at least a month during the summer time. Quite infrequent charging. After two weeks of use I could see a drop in distance I could go on a full charge. Did everything the guide told me to that came with the battery. I even bought a new outlet timer so it would not charge for more than 6 hours at a time. It's an ok battery but given the choice I would have just saved up and bought a lithium polymer battery.
