This was purchased by my 9 year old daughter with her savings after her 11 year old brother received one for his birthday. They BOTH love their scooters and my husband and I have fun riding them around as well! The charge is just fine and the speed is perfect. They are made very durable and there's not one thing I can complain about. The kids ride them everyday and just throw them on the charge when they're done so they're always ready. We have not run out of battery time at all. This is a fantastic toy for all to enjoy.

At the time of writing this review, I have used the eZip 500 Scooter for 5 weeks and have put nearly 125 miles on it. Everyday I take the scooter with me on the bus, the handles fold down and I can hold it while I sit on the bus and not disturb anyone else. After my bus ride, I then ride the scooter about 2.5 miles to work. The battery easily removes so I can charge it during the day in my office while the scooter is locked up in the bike rack. You can also easily remove the seat to make it easier to carry.

I'm 6'0" and weigh 200 lbs. and this little scooter moves along at a quick clip. I carry my bike locks, books and iPad in my bag and it adds another 20/30 pounds to the total weight. The only issue I've had with this scooter in terms of speed or ability to carry me and my bag is when I'm trying to go up a steep hill or the ground is really slippery or covered with debris. Otherwise this scooter moves along quickly and reliably.

I chose this scooter because it was designed for adult weights, was light enough (although not that light at 56lbs.) to carry on the bus and the low cost. Maintenance is simple, oil the chain as needed, charge the scooter after each use, etc. All in all it is a fun to ride scooter and definitely a conversation starter. I would recommend that if you don't need to carry onto a bus, get the largest watt motor you can afford, it'll definitely help on steep hills.

Great buy for a short (between 5 to 6 miles max) commute to work or shopping!

I am Pamela's husband and bought this scooter to commute 3.4 miles to work, one way. I am very impressed by this product and it carries me, 200lbs, plus my lunch box to work and back without a problem. Because I go on almost full throttle in the bicycle lane, I do charge it at work and that gives me plenty of power to get back home. I changed the seat out to a larger comfortable Schwinn bicycle seat. We also use it to go to the local store sometimes. I fitted front and rear bike lights and a bell. I wear a helmet and a colored safety vest, so I can be seen clearly. I also stuck on some short lengths of White reflective tape at strategic locations. I have a plastic shoe box fastened with bungie cords to the rear fender, with a rain suit in it in case it is needed. I have had it over a month now and so far it is great. I followed the 'break in charge' instructions carefully and time my other charges so as not to over charge the battery. I like the color and impressive paint job on the scooter.I also carry some extra blade fuses and a very compact Zefal air pump. This scooter is designed for relatively flat terrain. You can get off and walk beside it if you encounter a hill. The 5mm side of the hex wrench was a loose fit, so use a good wrench, so as not to damage your screw heads. You can access the chain for cleaning and oiling etc., just by removing the 4 Phillips screws on the rear fender panel and sliding the whole panel up the seat post. The rear two screws are slightly larger than the front ones on the panel. Keeping the tires pumped up hard and a little SAE 30 or 40 engine oil on the chain enhances the performance. The Currie Technologies website is good and gives an owner's manual. I had occasion to deal with customer service and they were very accomodating.Read more ›

I purchased an eZip E500 back in 2006 as a way to commute to work across my small town, as I was trying to save for a vehicle and pay in cash. I drove the scooter every day the weather was decent (dangerous in rain) for 5 months, a mile commute each way. For my size (125lbs) no charging was necessary between the 2 trips, just at the end of each day. (The heavier you are the quicker the battery will drain.) This achieved my goal, but the next spring I decided to just save the gas and ride the scotter again. I can no longer commute that way because I work in a different town, and I noticed the battery would only get me about 3-4 miles before draining. But, my family still has and still uses the scooter often for town errands, 7 years later. Over the past 7yrs, I have had to replace a back tire (ran into a telephone pole on a wet day), which is the hardest thing to replace on the thing, and I have blown a few small fuses (20amp small car fuses), but the thing is still super dependable. I do reccomend purchasing an extra batery pack to always have a backup charged if you will use this for more than play. I also reccomend some sort of cover for it if it will be left out, the sun made mine fade fast. And a few user notes... You will get more distance out of it if you don't power it full bore as you ride. And this review was written by a family in the flat lands of Ohio, only tackles low hills in our application.
