Editorial Reviews

2009 release from the Thrash Metal band. The true return of Martha Splatterhead is upon us! Over the last few years, surviving deaths, trends, and severe obstacles the Accused have returned to rightfully reclaim the Thrash Metal throne! The 2009 album The Curse Of Martha Splatterhead contains even more face ripping riffs, more brutal throat shredding and more intestinal morbid devourment than ever before. 14 songs clocking in at 29 min. Faster, More Vicious, More Brutal than you can handle!

5.0 out of 5 stars I have to disagree with the other review here!, August 31, 2009
By
This review is from: Curse of Martha Splatterhead (Audio CD)
Just because this doesn't have Blaine on vocals doesn't make it not good. My band played with the Accused in Oct 2008 and not only did they totally kick some major butt, but the vocalist sounded exactly like Blaine, just like on this disc. All the songs on this disc sound like classic Accused from the More Fun/Maddest Stories Ever Told era. And, this is way better than Oh Martha which had Blaine on vocals. I have been an Accused fan since their first 12" trashbag EP came out in 1985 (which I still own, by the way). And I had seen them several times over the years (twice in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1993, 2007, twice in 2008) and each and every time they came around, they were awesome...

So, don't believe the other reviewer. Blaine is a great vocalist, no doubt, but the fact he wanted to return to The Fartz doesn't take away from the fact that this still sounds like classic Accused. Now, if this didn't have Tommy on guitar, then that would be a problem....

2.0 out of 5 stars Eh..., December 26, 2009
The Accused wrote two of the most powerful crossover punk/thrash records of the past 25 years, and while Tom's guitars had a bit to do with it, sound wise, if it was not for Blaine's interpretation and deliverance of the vocal performances they would NOT have had the same effect. This release is alright, as far as music goes. The songs are written well and performed well, but the new singer really sounds like he's trying to pull off something he does NOT understand, and therefore it makes the whole thing sound contrived and kind of childish. Is this record bad? No. Do I have MASSIVE respect for Tom and the name? Of course. Is it an Accused record worth buying? Nope. The energy just isn't there. Unless you worship Martha at all costs, don't bother...it's more of the same, but without the piercing, mind altering choked, bleeding screams of the mighty Blaine!

3.0 out of 5 stars Less than wonderful., August 20, 2009
This review is from: Curse of Martha Splatterhead (Audio CD)
I tell you the most important part right off: IT'S NOT BLAINE ON 'VOCALS'! On the other hand it is Tommy on guitar (playing some riffs that sound more than a little bit familiar).
So pretty much, it's better than nothing; but it won't take you back to 1989 like "Return of Martha Splatterhead" does. If you love the band maybe you just might be happier with the way they were- some things are best left alone.
