5 stars and even more, if i could, i'd grade it 6 stars!,

This review is from: The Curse of Monkey Island (CD-ROM)
It the best game i ever played, nothing beats it, lots of fun moments, a bunch of secrets and stuff you could only find if you pay good attention, game's puzzles are very funny and not impossibly hard to beat, there isn't a single moment out of which you could get your character out..., so you won't see your character die like in most Sierra adventures, Hilarious, i was laughing from the entrance cutsene 'till the end of the game, very high replayability, you'd want to find out what would the character answer if you said something else...? Cool music, astonishing music for every place you're in, every character's own voice..! Meet some old characters from the first and second monkey island, such as Stan, Lemonhead,Elaine,LeChuck,Wally and Guybrush!, the insult sword fight is back, only this time, on high seas,Be the king of the seas! all that and much much MUCH more is the Curse of Monkey Island! It is even as good as the first 2, believe it or not...

Lechuck Strikes Again!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Curse of Monkey Island (CD-ROM)
This installment into the Monkey Island saga is probably the best, and most technologically advanced of the three. This game is a sequel to the previous one, Monkey Island 2: Lechuck's Revenge, so I suggest playing that one before playing Curse of Monkey Island. It will just help bring you up to speed. But what I do like about this game is that it offers the player two different skill levels. One offering the average amount of puzzles to solve, and the other one offering twice the amount. This helps keep the game from becoming old and boring, which is the problem with a lot of the role-playing puzzle games once they've been run through a couple of times. This has a great story, spanning two islands with tons of hilarious characters to interact with. Another point to note is that this game has a considerable amount of scenes that make the saga fan think back to previous games. A lot of series games tend to move on without any recollection or recognition of their humble beginnings, and I think the programmers wanted the players to know this. Either way, this game is excellent and pretty user friendly. I would recommend this game for people into parodies, slapstick humor, and the concept of role-playing. And, if you're a fan of the previous Monkey Island games, and you haven't gotten this game yet, you should act fast!

MY FAVORITE GAME!,

The Curse of Monkey Island is my favorite game! It was the first adventure game I had bought. For about a week, I couldn't stop playing it! The graphics are extremely good for a game that came out several years ago. It looks cartoonish, which eliminates all the problems you have to worry about with 3D games. The user interface is outstanding. You just have to click to walk of interact with an item or person. The puzzles are hard, but not bad enough to have you stuck for hours. If you do get stuck, you can look for numerous fan pages on the internet. Almost all have a walkthrough section that you can find help on. The game is also the most hillarious one I've ever played. Many times I paused and laughed. All my friends complained how much I talked about the game. It had my attention the whole time. I realy recommend this game for any person who wants a game where you don't lose the whole thing for one mistake. You can never get stuck. For any fan of adventure games, this should be on your favorites list.

A great conclusion to one of the Adventure greats.,

I've got to hand it to LucasArts. They hired a team of Disney-calibur Animators, hillarious screenwriters, and great voice actors to get this game up and running. They created the only sequel I would accept. Earl Boen does a great LeChuck, and you've got to grin when you hear the Barber Shop Trio perform their horrendous music. Plus, the Banjo Duel. There's for an interesting puzzle. Once again, gotta hand it to LucasArts. They really know their stuff!

HILARIOUS!,

This game had me in stiches the second I started watching the intro, and it only gets better. Truelly one of the best games I have ever played, I have yet to find a game that makes me laugh as much as this one does. Add to that spectacular, beautifully animated graphics, easy interface and awesome characters (I especially digged that "scary" skull, Murray), not to mention an amazing musical score, folks, we have a winner here. Treat yourself.

Curse Of Monkey Island,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Curse of Monkey Island (CD-ROM)
The Monkey Island series (The Secret Of Monkey Island, The Secret Of Monkey Island II: LeChuck's Revenge, Curse Of Monkey Island) has been a favorite of mine for a long time. The first two in the series were excellent, with humor, wit, and filled with puzzles that will drive you to play for hours. However, CMI did not compare to the greatness of the first two games. I was very dissapointed, especially at the rewardless, short, unexplained ending. LucasArts stil did a pretty good job with animation, sound, and a solid challenge.

There's times when you just want to play a game to laugh and relax. Curse of Monkey Island is perfect for such a thing. The game is chock full of tongue-in-cheek humor and all sorts of hilarity. Our hero is Guybrush Threepwood ('Guybrush' came from the original sprite art which was a file called guy.brush, the name stuck; and 'Threepwood' which was thought up by a contest with the Lucasarts staff). Guybrush is a pirate, or he wants to be one, you can never tell for sure. He's in love with Governor Elaine Marley, who is currently being wooed by the Evil (and dead) Pirate LeChuck. (Apprently elain told Lechuck to drop dead... so he did, and came back as an undead pirate) Elaine has been turned into a gold statue by a cursed ring and Guybrush needs to rescue her from the pirates that stole her away and remove the curse. His adventures take him to three islands and overseas where he meets pirate monkeys, evil chickens, vegetarian cannibals, and lactose intolerant volcano gods. The animation this game is excellent, the humor is top notch, the voice acting is great, and the story is excellent. I can't wait until Monkey Island Four!

Monkey Island, and Better Than Ever!,

Man, I love Lucas Arts! It's one of the few dependable companies you can count on to pop out a few great, funny games a year (and a few Star Wars games, to boot)! Its products are all every bit as good as its originals! I went into this game wondering how Lucas Arts could possibly live up to the expectations of the Monkey Island series, and, I've learned how! The animation, the jokes within jokes, the story... I don't see how anyone could give this game less than a mediocre review! If you want a game that will entertain you for hours, then this is the one!

Good, humorous game,

I've just started playing adventure games and playing Curse of Monkey Island was definitely a fun experience. There are two modes which you can choose from, an normal mode and a hard mode. I've tried both and the hard mode is sometimes very unintuitive. If you aren't good at puzzles try the easier mode and if you live for figuring them out try the hard one. I would recommend this game to anyone.

My wife and I sat down and played this game over a few months, and we had a lot of fun! My wife is not the kind of person who would ever play a video game, but we enjoyed it anyway. You do not need to have played the first two games in this series, this game can stand alone. We found the game humourous and quirky and just plain entertaining.
