Truly an uplifting and original album. If the band had borrowed tom petty's vocals and escaped to the islands to relax and record for the winter, i think that they would have listened to this album in their off hours.. and loved every moment of it. It's complete and soothing and a little inspiring and possibly the most appropriate musical accompaniment to any adventure. please enjoy.

An Homage to Harrison?, January 10, 2008

Donovan, Marc Bolan, and, to my ears, a lot of George Harrison, all rear their lovely heads inside the world of Blood Feathers, who's debut album marinates in retro dreaminess without losing touch with the current world of indie-popster-hood. "Curse & Praise" is never in too much of a hurry, and rarely raises too much of a racket, dashing off decent melodies aplenty amongst the understated drums, bass and various kinds of guitars.
"Origins" stands out as the biggest, poppiest track (w/ "Cat Can Coo Too" shambling in as a runner up), so I'd guess it's The Single off the album. Sounds a bit like the Strokes with sandals. Although I could see Blood Feathers fitting better on a bill with Matt Suggs or the Fruitbats.
An album more like a comfortable beat-up jacket than an escalator to the stars. As they say, "a bird in the hand...." 3.5 stars (1.5 ales and 2 cups of tea)
