Only this time, the stakes are the lives of those he loves.

About the Author

Philip Faversham was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and educated at Connecticut Wesley an and the University of Louisville, receiving a degree in Humanities with a major in philosophy. He was a member of the Kentucky all-state football team in 1956, and was elected to his high school athletic hall of fame. He served in the Army Security Agency, where he studied Russian and acted as a translator/analyst in Germany for two years. Raised in a rich tradition of the theatrical, musical, and visual arts, Mr. Faversham tried his hand at all of them, receiving numerous accolades for his theatrical work and writing. He spent 25 years with the Brown-Forman Corporation, retiring as a vice-president. Since then he has produced three novels, two plays, and numerous poems. The Curse of Service is his first published work, the first of a trilogy. It will be followed by The Ladder of Perception and Perception Denied: The Curse Continues. His interest in philosophy, in particular the process philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead, and his love for the human spirit, have helped Mr. Faversham create a fictional world of optimism and hope. The author has three grown children and lives in Louisville, Kentucky.

Very different from the usual espionage thriller. Thoughtful and character driven. I liked the interweaving of philosophical thought with the strong story line that leads to a powerful conclusion. The excellent writing make the book easy to read and seeing that this is the first book of a trilogy I eagarly look forward to the next two books.

I absolutely loved it! Very intriguing characters in a "heady" sophisticated suspenseful plot. I hope that this is just the first of many more books to come from Mr. Faversham.
