5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing, December 21, 2004
This review is from: Curse (Smallville) (Mass Market Paperback)
An intriguing Smallville book that is heavy on plot and Superman mythology. Clark uses his superpowers to help solve an intricate string of crimes around. When a journal is discovered, this starts the string of mysterious crimes. Fast-paced and good plot, a good possibility for a Smallville episode.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best smallville book ever, May 8, 2004

This review is from: Curse (Smallville) (Mass Market Paperback)
the book starts out with a grave digger unearthing a fallen tombstone. when he digs around further and finds the coffin he finds a journal and takes it with him. these events unleash a 150 year old curse upon smallville. all of a sudden there are a rash of freak accidents and deaths that are attributed to the curse. the whole town is freaking out trying to find answers and our hero is up to his eyeballs with the curse and a couple of other problems.

the book is well written and will keep you on edge until the end. my only complaint with the book is the ending. it was so anticlimax and boring that i could not believe the same author actually wrote the ending.(it was more like you got to be kidding after all this buildup).

4.0 out of 5 stars Is Smallville cursed?, October 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Smallville (Paperback)
Having watched all the Smallville tv episodes and now I am reading all the Smallville books, I can tell you that there isn't much in the way of sic-fi, supernatural and fantasy that hasn't been used for story lines. In this book, Chloe interviews a preacher who has an old journal about early settlers who came to the area before it was Smallville. It seems that one of the men was "in league with the devil" and they burned him alive. He put a curse on them all as the flames were burning him. Chloe prints it in the Torch and the whole town becomes paranoid when similarities are happening in town that seem to be the same things that happened to these people in the journal. Everybody is talking about the "curse of Smallville."

While reading this book, I wasn't sure if there really was a curse or if it would turn out differently, but that is for the reader to find out.

It is amazing to me that out of all the Smallville books I have read so far (over 10), and considering they are not all written by the same author, I am finding every single book to be as good as watching a new episode of Smallville, but it is prolonged since books take a little longer than 42 minutes. This book was a fairly quick read, but I enjoyed it.
