Quality Construction

CURT Manufacturing focuses on being first-to-market with new custom-fit hitch designs. CURT's high-quality powder coat finish is applied after sending welded hitches through multiple stages, including a shot blast, wash and preparation system creating a smooth, clean surface. Each hitch is also dipped in liquid A-coat before it receives the powder coat finish. The two coatings cure together in the finishing oven providing the most rust and chip resistant hitch available.

2006 Freesstar. Great product. Well built and excellent coating. You may find alignment issues, typical with hole patterns on aftermarket parts. I was able to guide mine using a hammer and get it to align correctly.
Curt products are very good Quality. Highly recommended.

Excellent product. Exact tight fit. Very easy to instal on my 2005 Ford Freestar. Took me about 40 minutes. Bolts are heavy duty. Instructions are simple and provide all torque specs for the bolts. On Ford Freestars, left/front/upper hole for the bolt has to be slightly enlarged on the frame as the Ford factory doesn't allign the frame exactly. Case for all Freestars. Very easy, 2 minute fix, just take a 5/8 drill bit and slightly enlarge the hole on the frame of the minivan.
Otherwise everything fits like a glove. It's recommended to have 2 people installing the hitch as it weights 45 lbs. I installed the hitch by myself, using stands to hold it up, thus it took me 40 minutes, otherwise, 2 people could manage this under 30 minutes. Don't forget to unhook the muffler from the rubber hanger in the back, spray some penetrating oil for easier removal. Using a good weight hammer to bang in/position the hitch is a must as it is a tight/exact fit.

The price at Amazon was lower than anywhere else, and that was before any shipping costs.

The fit was perfect for my Ford Freestar 2005, but it was not easy to install for a novice.

Someone commented somewhere that it took 90 minutes for their husband to install on a 2004 Freestar and the instructions say 30 min.

I'd say it took me about 7 or 8 hours and I was ready a couple of times to face the smirking uhaul guy to finish off the job I couldn't complete but I finally ended up getting all six bolts into the receiver and the frame.

Here are the things I learned:

1. After I found the screw to drop the muffler, it was easy, but I had to stare for a bit before I found it.
2. I found a plastic seed pail about 4" shorter than the perfect height to balance the receiver on while I worked.
3. I spent about 80 minutes doing things out of order until I really read the instructions carefully. The order of bolts is about the only way you can get the job done. I caused my own delays for 75 minutes or so there.
4. The machining on the receiver and on 2005 Ford Freestar matched up wonderfully in the end. Ford and Curt got it right -- but the tolerances are tight. So, that meant I had to use a rubber mallet, two screw drivers, the van's jack, and a pry bar to finally squeeze all six holes into the exact right place.
5. I had never fishwired a bolt into place and this time I got a chance to fishwire all six of them! I wasn't paying attention and I started trying to undo the fishwire the wrong way -- which made the wire deform and everything else after that was a little more touch and go. I also reverse fishwired -- pushing the coiled end through then attaching the bolt and then pulling it through back again!

Bought for my Ford Freestar. Took over 2 hours because of misalignment in the Ford frame that had to be ground out to allow a bolt to pass through. Otherwise the install was fairly easy. About 40 pounds so have some props ready to hold it up.
