Just a friendly WARNING to anyone considering these:
While they work well to protect your plate and sticker, they have been made ILLEGAL in the state of Illinois. (Ironic that the sample photo shows one with an Illinois plate behind it!) Tinted covers have been illegal for some time here in IL, but the clear ones were recently added to the forbidden list.
The reason it was made illegal, according to the nice officer who provided me with a "written warning" instead of a ticket, is because of those "stealth" covers that block photo enforcement efforts, etc. Since it is difficult to determine which covers are those type and which aren't, the state of Illinois took the rather draconian step of outlawing ALL such plate covers. Sigh...
Bottom line: As the saying goes, "check your local laws." Is keeping your plate clean worth the potential fine (IF it's illegal in your area)? In my case ... nope.

I do not own a vanity plate. I bought this to secure my license plate and especially the extra yearly registration license plate sticker they use in Pennsylvania, which often gets stolen by cutting the corner of the plate [because if you do not keep up your car insurance you do not get a new sticker]. This is actually a replacement for an identical cover which I had bought more than ten years ago {IIRC 1993}. It had gotten a little cloudy and scratched but was still clear enough to be legal. The real reason I just bought this replacement is that the old one had gotten slightly broken around one of the four bolt recesses by someone attempting [un-successfully!] to steal my plate. I also highly recommend the Cruiser #81230 [domestic cars] locking screw-bolts [they use hex key screws with a pin in the center of the hole so a regular hex key wrench can not remove them]. My car only has two holes for attaching the license plate to the car so I used two regular hex key bolts in the other two holes with nuts to fasten the cover to the plate while the two other holes are used to fasten the plate and cover to my car. I have to think about drilling the other two holes into the car because I don't think the thief would have been able to break the cover with all four corners bolted to the car. This cover is much heavier [thicker] than most others I have seen [except the identical Superior 25-5311 plate cover which is only slightly higher price, my original was from Superior, the main differences are the new one does not have the company name molded into the border and does not come in colors - which are illegal in some states, and my old Superior cover had been made in the USA, I do not know if that is still true].

This is the worst license plate cover I have ever bought. Had to remove the rear one before the police stopped me as you can't read the plate through it now. I pulled it before it was even a year old. Complete waste of money.

This works great...front vanity plate was getting bent and damaged, but with this, it covers the whole plate protecting it from damage.

Great for front license plates.
I put this on the front license plate of my car. It not only keeps the plate clean but stuff also doesn't stick to this. Snow hasn't stuck to it, bugs haven't stuck to it, etc. Read more

Full coverage!
This product covers the WHOLE plate. It isn't just a faceplate. It literally covers everything so dirt, mud, gunk don't get in. Very nice!
