Boy am I glad I double checked if this was the book I bought a few years ago for $40 at a 'get rid of it quick, it ain't selling' table." It's the same book. Only $200 USD more! -- a very brief, mediocre view of but a few of the American Master Engravers of the Firearms Engravers Guild of America of today (FEGA). Skinny, undersized, little text, and not even the engravers best work! -- for TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!???? If you want a book of beautiful firearms engraving, try R.L. Wilson's "Steel Canvas" for a quarter of the price and 5,234 times the value. I haven't looked to see if the Author is a Brother member of the FEGA -- so I'm going easy just in case -- I don't know who sets the price -- but if HE set $200 for this book (SHAME on him!), he probably shouldn't show up at the Annual Engravers (grown from custom engravers as shown here and our sister custom gun makers Guild, to knife makers and engravers, scrimshaw engravers, Custom Stock makers and engravers, etc) show in Reno at the end of Every January -- Though, to pat him on the back, the photos are clean, well taken, and are OK -- better than some of the early B&W of Wilson, but Holy Cow!!!! TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS for one skinny, barren book, when $60 will get you THREE RL Wilson Books which ARE books you can spend an hour a page on, while this book can be finished in 10 minutes if you take your time. MAYBE for the book collector, or as a historical example of modern Masters of the FEGA -- I'd find it hard to rate it even a good try, even if he IS a fellow Guild Member (which I'm not sure). If he weren't a member, I'd really tell you the truth of what I think of this value vs price! ONE STAR FOR GETTING IT INTO PRINT. ZERO STARS FOR CONTENT.

I thought Tom Turpins first book "Modern Custom Guns" was fabulous. Now he has outdone himself once again. "Custom Firearms Engraving" was every bit as good, if not better than Turpin's previous book. At last we have an author who details the work and art which is gun engraving.The photo's are unsurpassed!

This book is wounderfull. I purchased the book before it was for sale and when it came to my door i was as happy as can be. I sent my engraving pictures to Tom and when I saw my engraving in it i got dizzy with exitement. This is the first time i have had my work put in a book and It was put in the best book of all times. I rate this book with 10 stars but that option was not available on the review rating. The work of the other engravers is unbelievably amazing and i am very satisfied at the great job Mr. Turpin did on the layout of this amazing book
