The bag is very sturdy and well made.

Inside each side flap are plenty of pockets for storing hand tools, secured nicely, with large, strong zippers holding each flap closed.

This bag fits that need perfectly and there's still more room!

This is a great tool bag for the money.

I work in CATV and I have used this tool bag for a little over 1300 hours so far. This bag has hung from utility lines, dragged through the snow and slammed down to the ground fifty times a day. My theory with tool bags is that they should work at least as hard as I do, so I don't exactly treat it gingerly.

Pros: I'm happy to report that after all of that usage there aren't visible tears in the main body of the bag, netting is still intact, zipper works well, and all of the stitching seems to be holding.

Cons: The pad on the shoulder strap failed right about the 650 hour mark. The clips that held the shoulder strap to the bag's grommets failed before the 900 hour mark, fortunately the grommets themselves were very solid and large so I replaced both clips with spring links. After that minor repair I have a shoulder strap, minus a pad.

Overall I'm pleased with the bag for the price, if I were talking to the designers I'd say upgrade the clips, spring links work better and are probably cheaper than the clips it comes with, and re-enforce the pad, it takes a lot of punishment.

As an electrician this is the most practical bag i have ever owned. The two compartments on either sides have individual pockets keep all my everyday tools organized and easy to find. The center compartment is long enough to fit my hack saw, hammer, long screwdrivers and other extras. the only thing that worries me is the heavy duty zippers sometimes skip teeth when they turn corners on the bag. But i have seen these bags at 5 years old and the zippers were still in tact. Its to bad they don't have more descriptive pictures or i would have bought this bag sooner.

I bought this at home depot when they carried it and have used and abused it for four years now it is a great tool bag. It holds all of my electrician tools and more. It started to sag with the weight of the tools though. I liked it so much that I fashioned a liner out of fairly light sheet metal that covers the bottom and up the main sides of the inside of the bag [not the ends] and bolted through the fabric to the metal. This allows for the bag to zip closed as normal and gives support for the weight of the tools. I am buying another one for home use and will retro it also. All in all it is the BEST tool carrier I have ever owned. The main reason for this is there is a place for everything and everything is is in its place. If there is a tool not there you see it at a glance and know that you have to look for it. I have not lost a tool in 4 years because of this! When people I work with see it they want one!

This bag is huge! You are warned. I was looking for something a little larger than what I carry now and thought this would do it but it is really big. Great construction and quality and I really wanted to keep it but I knew it wasn't what I needed so I shipped it back. This would be a great tool bag for anyone that is on the go and needs all of their tools with them. For me, I work around the house mostly and occasionally take my tools on the road so I opted for the 1528 instead. It is similar to what I have now and I really like the open top design for instant access to my tools. With the 1539 I would constantly be zipping it open and closed. Should have realized that before I ordered but it sank in the minute I took it out of the box. Still giving it 5 stars because it is a great bag, just not for me.

I am extremely impressed with the quality of this bag. I use it primarily to take my tools between home and boat. CLC does themselves a diservice by not showing all its pockets and features on its website. Outside zippered pocket, inside mesh pockets, inside bit pockets, special attachment for tape measures, outside flap pocket, well made zippers, d-ring attachment, should strap. As others have said it is very large and filled, quite heavy. On the other hand, with all the pockets it is very easy to sort your tools. I previously had a bag with outside tool pockets thinking it would be easy to grab tools. It was. It was also easy for them to fall out, having lost a new set of pliers. With this bag, all the tools are zipped closed and cannot be lost. The outside zippered flaps for the tool pockets have retainers so when open, will lay flat. Well thought out bag that holds a ton (almost literally) of tools and gear. Thanks to the other reviews for helping to make my choice.

I've had this CLC carrier for over 3 years and will buy it again when the time comes. The side flaps open to reveal a very well layed out network of hand tool pockets, offering an array of pocket sizes & shapes as well as four cargo net pockets. The center gate-mouth looks cavernous, it's roughly 13"H x 19"L x 5-3/4"W. The perimeter has a tape measure buckle, 3 utility pockets, a flat zipper pocket, two smaller flat pockets and three rows of elastic bands across the face (for a level, hammer, crowbar etc). When 70% loaded it's manageable but at 100% it's heavy as hell but even that hasn't torn a thread. The hook from the factory strap burst one day w/ the bag containing roughly 50lbs of gear. No biggy, I replaced it w/ a heavier strap and shoulder pad. To give an idea of the volume of tools this holds, I keep a complete 7 piece, 3Amp Ridgid JobMax system (w/ accessories for all the attachments), along with a 50 piece socket set, fluorescent work lamp, simple line laser & a heat gun in the main compartment alone. One side is packed w/ electrical tools and the other with carpentry. Heavy materials and serious zippers that allow for a lock to be passed through them are great. An easy fifth star had the strap not burst.
