This is a thick, large book loaded with lettering examples from another era. It is a great reference and I recommend it to anybody who likes type/fonts/etc. I also recommend the other book in this series Custom Lettering of the 60s & 70s

I started my first business just a few years before desktop computers. I had a little screenprinting company and I knew this old-school calligrapher who used to do hand-lettering for supermarkets, sign shops, screenprinters, etc. He had a knack for typefaces-by-hand and I would trace his finished lettering using rubylith film and a stat machine...good times! If I ever had to go back to working by hand again, this would be one of my most valuable "go to" books.

This book is filled with lettering used in the 40s and 50s. It's a lot larger book than I expected, too. Great quality! Great buy!
