UPDATE: 9/4/2012 - I have had several purchasers of this case let me know that their case fit their MacBook Pro very loosely. It was hard for me to believe because all three of my mCover cases fit snugly and perfectly. Then I had to get one of my bottom pieces replaced by iPearl and the piece they sent me was loose! It was so loose that the tabs on the front right and front left of the bottom case barely touched the sidews/top of the MacBook Pro. Now I see what the others were complaining about and it makes me wonder whether I was just lucky the first three times. So there may be a quality control issue going on with these cases now. It puts me in a difficult spot because I thought so highly of these cases and now I'm wondering if I can continue to rate them so highly. for now I am going to reduce my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. I'll update my review again if need be.

What follows is my original review, before I became aware of the looseness issue that some people are reporting.

---------

I looked at a lot of cases for my MacBook Pro before choosing the iPearl mCover Hard Shell Case. It seems that the company has listened to all the issues that were apparently present in earlier incarnations of this case and have brought it to the level where it is today.

I love this case. It was super easy to install and is just as easy to remove from the MacBook Pro if you need to for any reason. Installation is a simple matter of placing the bottom cover on a table, grabbing your MacBook Pro and placing the back end of the MacBook into the case first, then slowly lower the front into the case and gently press the left and right corners of the MacBook down into the case until you hear the tabs "click" into place. Then ensure the back corners are secure. Next, just place the top part of the case over the MacBook lid and again simply push gently on all four corners until you hear the tabs click into place. That's it. In the video I mention clicking in the back corners of the case on the MacBook Pro, actually the clips on the back of the case are on the backside where the airvent is along the back edge of the MacBook Pro... that's why you tip the back of the MacBook Pro into the case first so that it catches those clips.

This version of the case has a matte finish which eliminates the issue of fingerprints and smudges while diminishing the appearance of any minor scratches on the plastic. The Apple logo just barely shines through the Black case but that's OK with me. I think the lighter colored cases would display the logo more brightly then the Black case did. Personal preference I guess. I like the Black case since the bezel around the LCD is black, it just seemed to compliment that.

The feet on the bottom case will raise the MacBook about a 1/2 inch which keeps the laptop cooler since air can circulate easily underneath the MacBook, and the bottom cover has lots of vent slots and cutouts to facilitate cooling as well..

It's a great case and a terrific bargain. I'm tempted to get another color in addition to the Black because I can afford to at this price and a little variety might be nice. I believe this hard shell case compares very favorably with cases that cost two to three times as much. And the company seems responsive and eager to please.

I read somewhere that someone was complaining about the slight "bowing" of the top piece so that it does not actually touch the MacBook case uniformly. It is true that the top piece of the hard shell case has a very slight bowing once it has been installed so that it is not touching the aluminum top in the middle where the Apple logo is. You can press down on the case where the logo area is and it will move down a few millimeters until it touches the aluminum. As far as I'm concerned, this is a non-issue. It does not affect my ability to carry my MacBook Pro in any way... it does not cause the top to pop-off the MacBook when pressed so it's nothing to be concerned about.

PROS:
Lightweight and fits MacBook Pro perfectly
Matte finish resists fingerprints really well
Retractable "feet" raise back of MacBook for easier typing position and to facilitate air-flow under MacBook Pro
Ports are all accessible, even Magsafe connector is unimpeded
Screen can be fully opened with no restriction caused by hard shell case.
Case is easy to remove if needed
The price is right!

CONS:
The foot pads may inadvertently get pried out if you're not careful putting this in and out of a bag or pack.
The back retractable feet are a bit fragile so be careful with them.

I suffered screen and case damage to my MacBook Pro about 40 days after purchasing it. The aluminum is attractive, but it just doesn't seem to hold up to as much physical impact as the old polycarbonate iBook I had previously. I was very pleased to find that the polycarbonate shell was available for my model. It went on very easily, fit pretty snugly, and looks like it will provide the extra protection I need. I am very pleased with the appearance and functionality. The flip-up feet and venting in the bottom seem like an especially nice touch to keep the heat moving away from the MacBook Pro during heavy usage.

I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone with a MacBook Pro.

Hi, I bought my Macbook pro 13 not only for its features but also for the great looking. One thing I notice soon after I got it is that is so smooth and thin that it can be slippery, so I start looking for a case that protects it. I found the M-Cover hard case and I thought that it may look good on my machine, then I read farther on the description and I found that it has two tabs in the bottom that you can simple flip on and your laptop sits in a way that facilitates typing or just any other type of task. I did not found this in any other similar product so I bought it, it came in, perfect fitment and I just can be more pleased with this feature. Simply turn the tabs on and it makes a world of the difference on your machine. Other thing I have notice is that by the laptop being tilt up the air flows better underneath and it keeps the machine cooler, that can extend the battery's life and in over all the machine's life. Simply is the best accessory I could get for my machine and the best part of it is that is under $20 dollars.

I'm not going to say this is worthless or a POS etc, but just a warning to the wise:

The picture is VERY misleading. If you are looking for a sheet of solid matter to put between your macbook and the world, great. This product may be for you. But for everyone else, this cover does NOT look like a high-quality product that you see covering other macbooks or iPhones etc. The plastic reminds me of cheap suitcase material, or like a lunch tray. When I opened it, in fact, I literally thought "wow they sent me the top of a Tupperware box." On top of this, the case is pretty rounded on top, and adds quite a bit of volume to your Mac. I'm really more of a function over form person, but this thing just looks like garbage. You've been warned.

Oh yeah, and iPearl? You can stop downvoting all the negative reviews. I saw that.

Got this case about 3 weeks ago. Did this review because they said I was eligible to receive a free one if I was in the first 100 reviews. Here is my take, For the price it is a good buy, any thing for Mac or Apple these days is at least 50 bucks which is a RIP off but this is a good deal. My only complaint is the rubber pieces fell off so it doesn't stay on surfaces without sliding around. The rubber pieces kept it stuck to my desk, but fell off far too easy. I want another one because I liked the way it looked and the price, just wish the rubber pieces didn't fall off! MY favorite part about this case, was the leg stands that come out and elevate the laptop for more comfortable typing and usage.

For the price, I would recommend this

I spent a long time reading reviews and practically researching hard shell covers for my MacBook Pro. I read the reviews on this item and I can honestly say that this is a great product!! The case was easy to put on, it just snapped right onto my MacBook and the the legs are a great added feature. A clear keyboard cover also came with the hard shell case, which fit fantastically. This case is a great product and I can actually safely transport my MacBook Pro.

It feels good to not have to worry about anything scratching my MacBook Pro!

I looked on Amazon for this product since a similar one in the apple store was 49.99 found this one and was stoked. I ordered it and it arrived on time. Another thing that this cover has is pop out stands on the bottom and the bottom case is covered with holes for great breathing. Things they didn't specify on the product or have pictures of. I would definitely recommend this product.

This is a great product to protect the MacBook from dents or scratches... I love the legs at the bottom that incline the computer to a very comfortable typing position. The vents at the bottom of the case are a great feature that keep the computer cool. The rubber feet at the bottom of the case are also a very great feature that the Macbook itself does not have. It keeps the computer where I put it on virtually any surface. This case is great and I would recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely great quality product, great price, very well designed, especially with the two little feet which enable the laptop to circulate air and not overheat- it's also a more comfortable inclination for many hours of typing.
In my opinion the best quality and price out there to protect your precious MacBook Pro!
Happy Holidays and New Year 2012!

I have purchased 3-4 cases for my macbook pro before I found this one. This is bar far the best value and fit. I love the feet on this case that set the macbook on an angle and give the bottom space to cool off. Fitment is excellent, far better than the other cases I tried.

Clearly I should have gone to iPearl first.
