5.0 out of 5 stars You will be amazed at the idiocy of people and brain freezes
You will find gems like these in the book:
Person who thinks all the US maps are wrong because they only show 50 states.
Person who is allergic to tomatoes but uses ketchup.
Person trying to find donuts in the chips and nuts aisle in a grocery store (because they are Do - nuts).
Person who calls vet to find out why her new cat is spraying...

1.0 out of 5 stars Why does this exist?
Banal minutia has no place in print, yet here it is in a glorious display of uncultured slop. Marvel at this fascinating insight into the lives of the dull and inconsequential. Wonder how anyone found this funny enough to not only post online, but actually publish.

You will find gems like these in the book:
Person who thinks all the US maps are wrong because they only show 50 states.
Person who is allergic to tomatoes but uses ketchup.
Person trying to find donuts in the chips and nuts aisle in a grocery store (because they are Do - nuts).
Person who calls vet to find out why her new cat is spraying everything in the house and it really smells ("cat" is all black with two white stripes down back)
Person who wants to know the difference between the 2-piece chicken meal and the 4-piece chicken meal and does not understand the only thing different is two pieces of chicken. (What does two more pieces of chicken mean?)
Ahh, the fun of questions about "how much does a $4 car wash cost".
Person who cannot get to a New England resort in time for the leaves changing colors on the trees and asks the resort owner to turn them back when they are planning a visit.
Person who calls the cable company because the television is not working correctly - and finally reveals that all the electric items are having a problem because the town has a tornado passing through

And gee, I wish the above examples were unusual. Glad to say - they are not. You will laugh, you will cry, you will shake your head as you read the pages.

With this book, you will be amazed at what people think they know, what people say, and instances of brain freeze.

Hopefully you may even learn not to be a "customer who is always right".

4.0 out of 5 stars good, but free, December 25, 2009

Good, but the content is basically free on the website of the same name, so better as a gift for someone who isn't as much into the internet.

Click on "Most popular" based on most "thumbs up" (likes) and you pretty much have this book in electronic form.

The stories are all public submitted stories anyway which of course have the potential of a little exaggerations here and there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Close Encounters of the Stupid Kind!, March 2, 2010
This review is from: The Customer Is Not Always Right: Hilarious and Horrific Tales of Customers Gone Wrong (Paperback)
THE CUSTOMER IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT is proof positive that Einstein was right when he stated "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." A. J. Adams' collection of 200+ tales submitted by various clerks, waitresses, attendants, pharmacists, librarians, bartenders and other customer-service occupations confirm that there are some mighty dim bulbs out there.

In no particular order, Adams recounts experiences "people servers" have had with dimwitted, wrongheaded, opinionated, moronic and otherwise intelligence-impaired people; tales which were then submitted to Adams' [...]website. Paging through this book, you don't know whether to laugh or cry. I found myself shaking my head A LOT as I read about:

*The woman who wants the zoo staff to go into the bear cage and poke them with a stick so they "move around." After all, she paid good money to see the bears "do something."
*The man who gets increasingly agitated because a store won't develop the roll of film he left off. It's a Video Rental store!
*The U.K. tourist who complains because the park he's visiting doesn't have enough ducks and suggests the staff just trim the wings of some ducks so they won't fly away.
*The mother who asks the clerk for a 'Playboy' for her son to play with. The clerk diplomatically asks if she means 'Game Boy!'
*Bringing a package of condoms up to the pharmacist, a woman asks if she has to swallow a condom a day to prevent pregnancy...and on and on.

Read 'em and weep, folks. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Customer is Not Always Right", October 31, 2010
This review is from: The Customer Is Not Always Right: Hilarious and Horrific Tales of Customers Gone Wrong (Paperback)
Anyone who has a worked a shift in any form of retail has stories to tell of those customers; A. J. Adams has experienced this personally after working in various forms of retail. In 2007 he decided that retail employees needed a voice and created Notalwaysright.com. Since then many turn to this therapeutic website for catharsis, therapy, or just a good laugh; while others use it as their forum to voice their anger, shock, and dumbfoundedness at some of the people that exist in this world. The Customer is Not Always Right collects one hundred of the most popular submitted stories, as well as some that were never published on the site. One of my favorites is this ditty from a flight attendant:

Flight attendant: "What can I help you with?"

Passenger #1: "The plane seems to be shaking a lot, and I almost spilled my bottle of water."

Passenger #2: "Yeah, and it's also really noisy. We can barely hear each other talk."

Flight attendant: "Well, the shaking is the turbulence that the plane is flying through, and the noise is coming from the engines."

Passenger #2: "Can't you turn the engines off?"

This book is a quick read and has individual stories that can be read one at a time. Many of the stories are pretty funny and gave me quiet a chuckle, many I had to share the stupidness of some of the customers with my family. Its enjoyable, and good for young adults. I wouldn't pay full price for it though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny Fast Read, January 9, 2012
This review is from: The Customer Is Not Always Right: Hilarious and Horrific Tales of Customers Gone Wrong (Paperback)
This book is very funny so far and the stories are short so you can easily sit down and read a few without setting aside a time to read the book. You could even take the book with you to work and read a few stories on your break. I would highly recommend this book to anyone even for those of us who don't usually enjoy reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars The customer is always WRONG!!!, September 9, 2011

After 3 years in Retail, I feel I can really relate to the material in this book. Full of different customer situations of different topics, but always coming out the same---the customer looking like an idiot the entire time, trying to blame crap on store employees when it was never their fault to begin with.

I laughed my butt off at these stories and will gladly read it the next 100 times for another laugh. Highly recommended, especially to those retail employees in the trenches! NOT recommended to the customers who always seem to act this way in Retail stores. They might just read a story and find out that it's really from their OWN experience!
