A graduate of Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, (The Times Higher Education List of the 100 Most Reputable Universities list.) He received his BA and MBA from METU. His Doctorate is from the Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences (Michigan State University helped the establishment of this institute, presently it is Gazi University, Ankara). He taught at Trinity College Dublin of Dublin University, Head of Media and Communications Department at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Director of PhD program at Henley Management College in Netherlands, Graduate Dean at Utrecht Business School (a joint venture of University of Sheffield and Hogeschool van Utrecht), and Professor of Organization, Strategy and International Management at the University of Texas-Dallas (UTD) since 2000. Worked as consultant for International Trade Center (TC) of UNCTAD-GATT/ WTO for several countries.
Served on editorial review boards of International Marketing Review, European Journal of Marketing, Thunderbird Journal of World Business, Journal of International Marketing. Member of American Marketing Association, Academy of Management, Academy of International Business. Founding Editor-in-Chief; Strategic Management Review (academic, peer reviewed journal).Author of several books and articles.
