Taught me everything I know!,
By
This review is from: Customizing Your Electric Guitar (Paperback)
When I was working for Chris Eccleshall, back in the late 80's, I devoured his copy of this book and used it to invent my own original tone circuit, which I've applied to my Eccleshall Barracuda & Scimitar guitars. It's a complete introduction to passive volume and tone options for electric guitar and includes all the down-to-earth practical advice you'll need... including Adrian's enthusiastic destruction of his pet hate, advertising T-shirts, as rags.

ADRIAN LEGG CUSTOMISING YOUR GUITAR,
This review is from: Customizing Your Electric Guitar (Paperback)
I bought Adrian's book about 40 odd years ago, when I had just started out learning the guitar.Whilst it is primararily aimed at guitarists who wish to hot wire their guitars, there is also some very usual information on general aspects of guitar maintainence and general customisation. There is a plethora of different set ups for all types of pick ups from single coil to humbuckers. The beauty of Adrians many circuits is that he uses diagramatic rather than schematic discriptions, which is a godsend to people who may not have a an electronics back ground. He also advises on what kind and value of "pots" and switches are best suited for whatever particular set up you want to use.A nice touch is that bass guitarists are also catered for.Adrain's final chapter on the ultimate hot wiring of his ovation guitar takes this to a completely new level.for some it may be a bit o.t.t.but you cant help admire the sheer brilliance of the guy.Bearing in mind this book came out long before the advent of the modern day computer, and the internet,it still remains a must have for any guitar enthusiast.

Mostly pickup wiring but worth it for the Legg wit...,
This review is from: Customizing Your Electric Guitar (Paperback)
A thin book mostly made obsolete by the many great websites and friendly forums that cover basic and creative pickup wiring ideas/diagrams/etc. Legg also devotes a few pages to the smell of hide glue and guitar finishing but - again - not really enough except for a tidbit here or there. Long out of print and only worth buying if you can get it cheaply or if you are a fan of the Adrian Legg wit. Giving it 4 stars - a bit kind but it also takes into consideration that it was written before such info was widely available.

Still a good book,

Useful information, the perfect companion to "Guitar Electronics for Musicians" by Donald Brosnac. It could be updated and improved (although much of this information is available on the web), but it's still a good reference book.
