5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read!
The word is out that Joe Hunter has tortured and killed a woman. Joe Hunter tracks and kills the bad guys. Joe is not one that would torture a woman and then slash her throat. 3.0 out of 5 stars Okay
I agree, it was not as good as Dead Man's Dust, however I for one thought it was still a fun ride. I'm not giving up on Matt Hilton yet, he definitely has promise!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing fancy, January 22, 2012
Matt Hilton writes stories that are raw and engaging. Nothing fancy in the mix, but like his hero, Hunter, every word, every phase and every scene is pure and simple. There is no wasted movement. There is a brutal honesty to Joe Hunter, that is rare today. He doesn't overthink a situation and he doesn't waste time or effort reviewing every action. That's the true genius of Hilton's books; they are raw and open. You don't need a road map, just a safety harness.

The word is out that Joe Hunter has tortured and killed a woman. Joe Hunter tracks and kills the bad guys. Joe is not one that would torture a woman and then slash her throat. Two detectives approach Joe regarding the murder but before they can take him in for questioning shots ring out and the detectives are dead.

Joe is being set up by a look-a-like and it is imperative that he find out the reason. With the help of Jared Rington, Joe's friend and partner he discovers that a person or persons unknown is seeking revenge for an act committed years ago.

When Bryce Lang, a former team member, contacts Joe, he discovers that Joe and Bryce are the only two surviving members of the team sent to take out Jesus Henao Abadia, leader of a drug cartel. The person seeking revenge is not only going after the team members but also their families.

Joe is sure Abadia is dead so who is the person or persons seeking revenge? The first person close to Joe to be attacked is Imogene Ballard, the sister of Kate Piers, a person that Joe became close to prior to Kate's death. With the help of his friends, Joe begins a chase that will take him back in the past to uncover who is behind the attacks. And his discovery will be mind boggling.

Cut and Run is the fourth book in the Joe Hunter series and each book gets better and better. Cut and Run is action packed with exciting scenes and a surprise ending.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cut and run away from this book, December 20, 2011

If I had read this when I was in my early teens I might have thought this was really good writing. Now, it is just nonsense. It is a typical formula for this type of story - bad guy proves he is really bad, good guy is offended, good guy is hurt somewhat badly as he chases bad guy, good guy prevails. There is nothing wrong with this kind of story when it is done well. This one is not done well.

I almost quit reading around the middle. However, I hung in there although I was skimming the irrelevant descriptions near the end. Gruesome details seem to be used to distract from the rather pedestrian writing. My advice - skip this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Graphic violance in ghastly taste, April 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cut and Run (Paperback)
I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in this book, very graphic, the author; Matt Hilton's book is based on 50% stupid and graphic violence, instead of interesting story. His other Joe Hunter thriller was good, this one is waste of money. If Matt Hilton continues on this path, hopefully no one will buy his novels again.
