Cat Dupree is back,

This is the sequel to NINE LIVES and it is just as good if not better. I loved it. The moral and personel dilemas of Cat who just finds it hard to trust anyone are standard Sharon Sala. She is one of the list of authors I buy sight unseen. Her ability to reach into the dark and find the hidden depths of her characters make for a wonderful read in every book by her I have read.Cat Dupree is a child of the foster care system. Her mother died when she was young and her father was murdered in front of her when she was 13. The killer cut her throat and left her for dead, but she survived and became a bounty hunter who looks for him all the time. He was unique because of his tattoos and filed teeth. Everyone including the system has let her down and in NINE LIVES she lost the foster sister, who was the only one close to her in this life. Wilson McKay is also a bounty hunter, he helped Cat find the body of her friend and followed the killer to Mexico where he had connected with the man who murdered Cat's dad. Wilson has made the mistake of falling for Cat. He wants to be the one she can trust and turn to, but she still doesn't trust him. They thought the killer of her father died in the fire at the end of the book, but now a blip from a planted bug has started on Cat's computer. She sets out to find answers to the question, is he alive or dead? The action is awesome and I love a strong woman but there is also a time and a need for love and that time has arrived for Cat. Do not miss this one. I loved it.

I loved the charters in this book. While Cat was a strong woman and had some faults she was not stupid about things (which so many are), a woman can be hard headed and independent without being stupid. Also, I like Wilson and his family very much. I can't wait for the new book featuring Cat and Wilson in 2008. I appreciate books with a good plot, charters I actually like and care about, some action and a little romance and a happy ending.

Cat is still on the prowl,

Cat Dupree returns in this exciting sequel to Nine Lives. The man who killed her father and left her for dead and left the scar as a remembrance is still on the loose. Cat may finally have the one lead that she has always wanted, a face and a possible location. The need for revenge has fueled her life up to this point and she has had to do most of it on her own. She doesn't know how to ask for help.Wilson has been there for her even when she doesn't want it and has come to love her. Does she feel the same way? It takes her longer to come to that conclusion. She has to heal from her physical and emotional wounds. Wilson offers that opportunity in the form of taking her to his family's farm. He offers her the one thing that she hasn't had in a long time, which is a family. His family accepts her and treats her like a member of the family even though they have only known her for a short period of time. Now that she has this new family she will do anything to keep it. This is a book that you don't want to miss. I would recommend reading Nine Lives first since it does have a lot of background information. I can't wait for the next book involving Cat and Wilson to see what happens.

Excellent book. Its so refreshing to read about a strong woman with history / flaws. Cat's character reminded me a bit of an early version of Eve Dallas in the "in Death" series. Very enjoyable read.

Absolutely loved this book. The characters are flawed but likeable and Wilson's family is a dream. Cat is a pain with her independence until she shows her vulnerability toward the end of the book. Wilson's loyalty and love made the book a keeper for me. The suspense doesn't lag. The bad guys are totally without redemption. The good guys are class A. Loved it!!

Awesome sequel,

Butt kicking female bounty hunter Cat Dupree is back and ready to get her man. After her last case had her discovering the tattooed man who killed her father and slashed her throat, leaving her for dead, she tracks him down when the suitcase she equipped with GPS and left behind in Mexico suddenly is on the move. Solomon Tutuola was thought to have perished in a fire, but with the case on the move, Cat thinks it might be her last chance for vengeance. Fellow bounty hunter and lover Wilson McKay isn't happy that Cat keeps chasing this ghost, and the couple is soon estranged. Will Cat catch up with the scarred and tattooed Solomon? Will Cat's need for vengeance supersede her need for Wilson?Sala's breathtaking sequel to "Nine Lives" does what few sequels manage - it lives up the original and builds on the story. In her latest, she gives Cat more dimension as opposed to a single mindedness that drove her in the original. And a bonus is the detail of Wilson's background, providing more layers to him as well. All in all, a great sequel - but I don't recommend it as a stand alone - there is too much back story in the original which sets the tone for Cat's odyssey of vengeance.

Cat Dupree's childhood ended the night her father was murdered and she was left for dead with a slashed throat. She survived and dedicated herself to finding the tatooed man who did this atrocity and avenging her father. For a time, she thought she had done so, then she discovers that the killer escaped and has fled to Mexico to live the high life on stolen money. She cannot allow that and so sets off to make sure that this time, he stays dead. She leaves behind her sometimes lover, Wilson McKay, who has his own set of worries to handle. Yet, when Cat runs into trouble, McKay is there for her, no matter the risk.**** Once again, Sharon Sala has created a memorable, character driven story that draws you into the action. Though there is no mystery to solve, you are deeply snared by the sheer drama as it unfolds. It's not a conventional story, but is quite memorable. **** Amanda Killgore

Albeit the book has one too many happenstances - If I tell you which I'll be blabbing the plot - the book will keep you in the story and the end of it is really amazing. I recommend to read first "Nine Lives" before this one to utterly understand this book. So now I'm waiting for this one's sequel.

Book 2 of 3 Cat Dupree Novels You Will Love!,
By Monique Atgood (Winter Haven, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cut Throat (Cat Dupree Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nine LivesCut Throat Bad Penny First off, READ them IN ORDER! As listed above. Cat is this incredibly confident kick ass Texas bounty hunter. She is loyal to her friends, dedicated to her profession, and pretty much lonely and emotionally broken due to the hand she was dealt. Her mom was killed in a car crash, she was attacked at age 12, when her throat was cut and she was left for dead as her pop was murdered before her eyes by a man with tattoos on his face. In book one "Nine Lives", she deals with the grief following her best friend's murder. The book is also about how she brings the killer to justice and a blossoming romance with fellow bounty hunter Wilson, but the reason I gave the book 4 stars (well I wanted 4.5 stars), is that the books on the Texas bounty hunter "Cat" delves into her whole life not just a romance and a murder. The Cat books examine her grief, survivor's guilt, overwhelming need for revenge, and how she holds it together while working twice as hard at her profession as a man would just be on par. "Cut Throat" book two, follows Cat as she journeys into Mexico chasing a ghost. She wants to be assured that the devil who killed her father is actually dead. The book takes an unexpected and sweet turn in the Mexican desert. I'm not giving away the plot, but Cat has to face her demons in many ways in this gripping tale. 4.5 Stars on this book. If you enjoy romantic suspense and unexpected heart tugging turns, buy this series. You'll be glad you spent the time reading them.

Once again Sharon Sala has written an incredible book full of suspense and daring. The returning characters develop more in this book and has forced me into looking forward to the next book in the series- hopefully.
