Good episode, January 26, 2012
This review is from: Justified Season 3 (Amazon Instant Video)
This season started out wonderfully last week with "The Gunfighter" and follows up with what I believe to be a strong second episode of the season.
This episode gave other characters a chance to shine, especially Chief Art Mullen.
A US Marshal (whom Art is friends with )is killed in the line of duty, and its up to Raylan, Art and the rest of the Marshals to find out who is responsible.
It also features a guest appearance by Carla Gugino who plays "Karen Gooddall" (Gooddall is her married name;many fans of Elmore Leonard might think she is Karen Sisco"). The Dixie Mafia and Wynn Duffy were not featured in this episode but look for them to make a fantastic return to Raylans world in next weeks episode titled "Harlan Roulette". Justified is my absolute favorite show on TV. The acting and the writing are consistently brilliant week to week! This show has it all, suspense, humor, action, love- it contains every ingredient needed for a sucessful drama.

Simply the best drama on TV, January 26, 2012
This review is from: Justified Season 3 (Amazon Instant Video)
I you haven't viewed this show, you're really missing the best drama on TV. The acting is superb, and the story lines grip you.
Like all series you've got to watch a few episodes to get a feel for the various characters. But once you do, you'll be hooked.
If you're jumping in now, try to find an episode guide to bring you up to the start of season 3 as lots has happened to shape the
characters and the current story line. The 1st 2 seasons are on DVD and you can probably find them on Amazon and possibly in your
local library. I'm serious - its a great show.

Can Justified survive without the Bennetts?, January 31, 2012
This review is from: Justified Season 3 (Amazon Instant Video)
"Justified" gave us two great seasons, partly because of the excellent work of the evil Bennett clan, especially Mags (Margo Martindale), Dickie (Jeremy Davis), and Coover (Brad William Henke). The two principal actors, Timothy Oliphant and Walton Goggins, are the mainstay of the series, but the Bennett clan was really the topping on the already rich cake. In case you didn't already know, the series is based on Elmore Leonard's work, and Leonard is well known for works which include "Get Shorty", "Hombre", and "Jackie Brown". His prior ventures in TV series include the short lived "Karen Sisco" (2003-4) and "Maximum Bob" (1998), so "Justified" is his first real TV hit. For his work as Executive Producer he received a Peabody in 2011. The series was nominated 5 times for an Emmy and Margo Martindale deservedly won in 2011 as Best Supporting Actress. Although the entire cast is excellent (Nick Searcy, Joelle Carter and Natalie Zea especially), one has to wonder whether "Justified" can succeed without the Bennetts. Personally I have my fingers crossed.

Third season is somewhat disappointing..., January 26, 2012
This review is from: Justified Season 3 (Amazon Instant Video)
Somehow, the 1st two episodes (all that have been shown so far) have been just a little bit disappointing...they're good, just not great, as Seasons 1 & 2. Guess I've just been spoiled by the Bennett clan from Season 2. It is *still* the best show on TV. Yes, I have Season 1 on DVD and Season 2 on Blu Ray. Also, I'm sure Season 3 will improve as the weeks go on (as the 1st two seasons did). FYI, my favorite regular character has to be Boyd Crowder (played by Walton Goggins). Now if we could only get rid of that Winona character...
