Harkens back to days of Shrapnel releases,
This review is from: Cutaway (Audio CD)
Having gotten out of the shred game for awhile, I decided to see what the modern players were doing. I bought this on a whim, and I was not disappointed. At first listen, he reminded me of Greg Howe with a bit of Satch and Hoey. His sweeps will make you think of Becker and others, but I felt a bit more natural soul in his playing.
Check this guy out. It's total porn for shred heads.

Ridiculously Amazing Musicianship,
By
This review is from: Cutaway (Audio CD)
Fabrizio "Bicio" Leo is absolutely a world-class musician. He is as deadly-accurate with his fingering as guys like Vinnie Moore and with his picking as guys like Steve Morse. Greg Howe will definitely come to mind when you listen to Fabrizio but this guy has a way with sweeping in which he leaves his mark. Definitely unique note choice and this guy isn't some run-of-the-mill hack like Francesco Ferreri who sloppily plays as fast as they can.
In the current world of guitar where your heroes are guys like Guthrie Govan, Mattias "IA" Eklundh, Bumblefoot, etc., you need a little something special to stand out in the crowd and this guy absolutely does. You can hear his influences but he definitely has his own voice on the instrument. Great production, great composition and absolutely amazing guitar playing! Be sure to check out Citriniti, too. Fabrizio just finished doing all the guitars for their latest album and did as such for their last one. Finally, be sure to search YouTube for Fabrizio Leo and you will see that this guy is definitely the real deal by pulling off some of his monster licks with unhumanly-clean accuracy. This review I'm writing is absolutely biased but being a VERY avid listener of instrumental guitarists for years, trust me when I say that if you enjoy guys like Vinnie Moore, Richie Kotzen, Greg Howe, Frank Gambale, etc... you will definitely enjoy this guy. A must-have CD!

One of the BEST musicians I'v heard,
This review is from: Cutaway (Audio CD)
There is a lot to say about Frabrizio and this CD. #1 Fabrizio is not simply a shredder or a great guitarist...he's a fantastic MUSICIAN! He hears the whole song...not just the guitar parts. I had this album on my ipod but never really listened to it. Occassionally my ipod would randomly shuffle to one of it's tracks and I had to stop and see who it was. It was Frabrizio's Cutaway CD.
These tunes are so catchy it almost doesnt feel like a guitar CD. This guy is a true studio musician and it shows. Personally, I like Fabrizio Better than Guthrie Govan. Fabrizion's style is so lively and entertaining. What else can I say? You gotta get this cd.

Fabrizio Leo plays well enough to be a household guitar name. Alas, he remains somewhat of an unknown. However, Cutaway is a great album which showcases Leo's masterful skill as an instrumental guitar player. He has the range of compositions to play shred as well as anyone, and, he can play slower, very melodic tunes with just as much talent. As a testimony of guitar playing talent we should all be more familiar with, Cutaway is a wonderful effort by Fabrizio Leo.
