4.0 out of 5 stars Cute app with nice pictures, issues resolved April 14, 2013

This is a cute app for 2 -3 year olds. It consists of two parts. The first is a counting book as in the first monster has 1 curly tail, the second has two horns etc. up to ten. The first frame has the words and children can touch the word and it will be read to them. The next frame has the monster again with the parts to be counted circled so that when the child touches them they are counted aloud with the number shown on the screen.

The second part is the puzzles. They are very simple with pictures of cute monsters. I counted eight of them so this is very short, but that age group has a small attention span so it may be just right.

A good app that worked well on my Kindle Fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Educational Fun! April 14, 2013

"Cutie Monsters" is an endearing application that will appeal to toddlers as well as early readers. In addition to teaching children numerical and counting skills, children can use the application to read the simple story. They can either read to themselves, or press the words, and have the story read to them. If stuck on a word, they can press on it, and a pleasant male voice will read the word to them. The Arabic numerals pop up on each screen as the monsters are touched.

One of the most charming aspects of this app is the unique noises made by each of the monsters when they are touched. The noises are cute, and they are not scary at all. The birds even chirps when touched! The monsters are also animated, and touching them makes them move.

The interactive jigsaw puzzles are fantastic, too. The pieces can be dragged over to the correct place on the silhouette; if the child is not correct, the piece will return to its original position on the background. When the monster has been pieced together properly, the app responds with a round of cheering, and the monster does a little animated celebration dance.

The background music is nice, and it won't annoy caretakers, either. ;) The drawings and the colors are pretty and eye-catching. It's easy to understand why this is an award-winning app!

never opened theapp. Norton flagged it's permissions as a potential data miner . I have installed hundreds of apps from multiple markets and the internet and this is one of two that have been flagged.

My 2 year old nephew just loves these little critters and putting the puzzles together and making them make noises. Recommend this for anyone with a toddler that likes simple puzzles and cute pictures.

You can tell that a lot of time, effort, and thought went into the development of this app.

* The graphics are aesthetically pleasing, and all the monsters are cute and colorful.

* The narrator has a delightful British accent. All his words are clear and well enunciated, and while reading the text the narrator stressed and draws out the important word (ie the body part that is being counted).

* The app has easy to use controls, and unlike a lot of apps it has a back, forward, redo, and home button. But I did find the forward and back arrows a little unresponsive at times. Sometimes I had to hit the arrow a few times to get it to respond. Seemed to be more of a problem when the Kindle HD was held flat. Not as much of a problem if the Kindle was held at an angle.

* The background music is peppy and makes you want to bob you head in time with the beat, and there is a button that allows you to turn off the music if it starts to get annoying.

* The app has three different modes: Read it Myself, Touch Read Words, and Jigsaw Puzzles.

* In the reading portion each page has a brightly designed monster with a 4-5 word sentence to read. The sentence describes some part of the monster that can be counted (one curly tail, two horrible horns, etc). When the child touches the monster the corresponding number appears on the screens, and the monster dances and makes sounds. The app counts up to ten. One thing I noticed was that some of the monsters were used more than once. The app only counts to ten, it seems like there should be ten different monsters.

* In the Jigsaw portion the monsters are cut into 3-4 pieces and the child must reassemble parts.

1.0 out of 5 stars AVG Intrusive Adware Warning October 1, 2013

I have this little book installed on our Nexus 10 for my youngest daughter. Overall is a very cute simple book appropriate for all ages. I recently tied to install an update, but I received AVG Anti-virus Pro warnings stating the update as intrusive adware. For now, I have decided to remove from our devices.

Great Concept But Has Bad Permissions. Downloaded Beware, Unless They Change The Permissions. My Anti-Virus On My Phone uninstalled This App.
