KICKS ORIGINAL B.O.S. IN THE.....,

Yes,the singer of this seminal U.S. hardcore band reunited (or rather reformed) his band with new musicians in 1997 for this fabulous recording.Among them there was non other than Terry šTezzš Roberts of Discharge,Broken Bones and UK Subs on bass.Certainly influenced by this mighty personality, the band (now with A.D. after their name) sound a lot like brit punk/metal,with marked Discharge influence;sparse but intense guitar solos, thundering drumming, and vocals wisely very low in the mix.Only flaw that prevented me from giving this cd 5 stars is the fact that of the 30'of total duration,6:34 are consumed by the last track,an obvious filler, obviously jammed around a very repetive and simple circular riff with almost no variation,in contrast with the other 12 1 and a half min bursts of energy.

Ok, so if you've heard the Battalion Of Saints CD "Death - R - Us" you would've heard the first two tracks, "Hell's Around The Next Corner" and "I'm Through With You".
Both songs are by Battalion Of Saints A.D, who is still the lead singer George Anthony, but with new members. They are still fast, still hard rocking punk songs but not exactly what you would've heard on the "Second Coming" LP (typical 80's Punk). "I'm Through With You" is actually one of the best songs i've heard in a long time so I decided to pick up "Cuts" This is a great cd. Members besides George is Terry Bones from many a Punk band, Ken Ortman and Mark Bender. Once again, good fast songs, a few guitar solo's (but not of the cheesy kind) and lots of agression. If you were a fan of the orginal band, i'd definitely pick this up, but even if you havent heard the original band, this would be a good place to start too. This album came out in 96, so I hope a new album is on it's way. |
