A House Is Not A Home, October 6, 2002
This review is from: Cutting Edge (Audio CD)
This version of A House is Not A Home is one of the most beautiful tracks ever recorded. Rollins has seldom recorded a bad album and this is right up there with the great ones: Our Man In Jazz, Sonny Rollins On Impulse and The Bridge. It's a toss-up whether Rollins or Coltrane is the greatest jazz tenor. I'm a Coltrane fanatic but this album casts a vote for Rollins.

Don't miss an unique, immense track..., May 16, 2001
This review is from: Cutting Edge (Audio CD)
I'm afraid this is not a full review of this historic album, that I actually released here in France on vinyl in 1974 when I was label manager for Milestone Records. The album won the then equivalent of the French Grammies in the jazz category. However, DON'T MISS the incredible version of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot", where Rollins jams with bagpipe genius Rufus Harley for a long, unique and wonderful track. The other titles are less spectacular, but its all good Rollins - what more can I say?
