Roles people play,

'Cutting More Ties That Bind' and various seminars held by Phyllis Krystal made me realize that I was playing many dangerous roles: the role of a perfectionist, the role of »everyone's savior« and the role of a people pleaser. Playing all these roles for years and years really conditioned my ways of thinking, feeling and acting. Thus I had gradually developed the habit of worrying. I used to worry, even if there was nothing to be worried about. It felt odd not to be worried, so I easily found something totally irrelevant to worry about, just because I had this habit of worrying. During several years of work according to the Phyllis Krystal method, I have cut the ties to all these roles and finally to the habit of worrying. It really feels good to have peeled off the individual layers of this "onion of worrying" and to be left with the core only, which is my thoughtful and careful character.Balancing the Beast: A Bright View of Schizoaffective Disorder - Bipolar or Manic-Depressive Type

Though her ideas are unusual, she provides great tools for helping oneself overcome psychological problems.
