5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a Bug lover!
I can't believe no one has reviewed this here. I spent a great deal of time researching other die-cut machines to work across ALL of my dies - Quickutz, Sizzix, Sizzlets - and this one does it all. The size of the cutting area is MUCH larger than Revolution and will do Revolution's 4" dies. My Sizzix dies cut like a dream, and even QK dies that I was thinking of...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so great in the long haul
I purchased a Cuttlebug Machine and several folders and die cuts to make cards at home. The embossing folders are very affordable and versatile, but the die cuts will cut into the plates and warp them in no time at all. I used a die to cut about fifteen images and in that short time, my plates needed to be replaced. I also had to stand up to crank the plates through...

My Sizzix dies cut like a dream, and even QK dies that I was thinking of sending back for replacement now cut without a problem!

I had no problems with curling or cracking, I read that some Cuttlebugs have a slight variation in the rollers and you have to experiment to find the sandwich makeup that works best for your machine and your dies. If one plate curls, I just put it in the opposite way. I also tend to put my dies at the very beginning of the plate and wind it backwards thru again after the cuts have been made.

6 QK 2" dies at once!!! If you have the QK triple plates, you can do 2 at once!!!! It's heaven!! Especially if you have doublecutz, you can do both plates at once!!!

Only down side doesn't matter to me - suction on table gets lost after a short bit, but who cares, I always move it around anyway! And right now, Michaels and AC Moore allow you to buy it using their coupons -- for the time being anyway!!!

I'm getting rid of my QK tool and my Sizzix machine!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta have it, September 1, 2008
This is an excellent product for scrapbooking with affordable dies to buy. I use my sizzlets in this machine and they work fine. I can put four of them in at one time. The embossing dies are great and they don't need that much pressure from this machine to give you a crisp image. If you're on a budget, then this machine is a must. It is very versatile. Some people say they have trouble keeping it from moving but I set it on a laminate countertop, hold the top(where the lifting handle is) down with one hand while I'm cranking. The dies stay in place--no shifting. Keep the instructions handy. I have to go back to them for reference (senior moments). No regrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite machine!, January 19, 2008
This review is from: Cuttlebug Embosser and Die Cutter (Kitchen)
I love my cuttlebug! It's so easy to use, fun and worth every penny. It works perfect, every time. It's also a plus that you can use your other brand of dies with this one machine. I do wish cuttlebug would make more dies of their own though. All in all, I love this thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars good machine, not quite great, April 6, 2009

The Cuttlebug is one of two die cutters that I own. (The Sizzix Big Shot is the other.) What I like about them both is that they're quiet, have the crank action, and both can use most of the non-commercial dies. There are issues that I have with the Cuttlebug though and these keep me from rating this as a 5 star product. The suction is great if you're using the machine on a smooth surface, but sometimes you don't have a smooth surface and the small footprint works against you--the machine is just not that stable without the suction. Also, you can't restick the machine if it has come loose while in the middle of cranking something through because you need to fold the sides up and reopen them to do that. The opening of this machine is also just a bit too narrow to be able to take all of the die manufacturers' cutting plates. There are work-arounds, but it can be a bit of a hassle.

So, I feel that this is a good machine, especially for someone just starting out. Its size is both its biggest asset and a negative for me--it folds nicely and is portable, but its very small footprint makes it less stable than other die cutting machines out there, especially if you're crafting in a area where you can't stick it down to your work surface.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little machine for the price!, February 14, 2009
This review is from: Cuttlebug Embosser and Die Cutter (Kitchen)
I do a lot of scrapbooking, and my Cuttlebug has a permanent spot on my scrapbooking table! I thought it was a reasonable price and very easy to use. The dyes are inexpensive and universal with other dye cut machines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Cuttlebug Embosser and Die Cutter!!!!, September 22, 2010
This review is from: Cuttlebug Embosser and Die Cutter (Kitchen)
I am just starting as a scrapper and I've had my eyes on a cutting machine for a while, but the price stopped me, in august I saw the cuttlebug with bonus kit at $40.00 and I had to buy it, specially after seeing all the tutorials in you tube and how you can even use other brands of dies with it.

I absolutely love it, here is why:
1. My scrapbook pages took a 180° turn with this machine, I'm no expert but you can tell the difference with the before and after pages.
2. The dies are really affordable, and I got some on e-bay for 1-5 dollars, a whole alphabet set for $3.25!
3. The embossing is so pretty, you don't even need to add much to a card afterwards.
4. I haven't tried it yet (my budget for crafting supplies ran out for this month) but I've seen tutorials on how to use other brands of dies and embossing folders, and that expand the possibilities so much!!
5. It is small, not so heavy, and easy to operate, I am 7 months pregnant and I can use it sitting down most of the time.

I have read many complaints about the boards and the suction cup. I have used it on wood and it sticks fine. About the boards, the dies do cut and mark them, but that is normal, I used to work in a cutting factory and we had a similar device to cut fabric (bra parts) it used pressure and dies and we had to rotate the boards and file them after a while so they wouldn't crack, and of course we had to replace them after some use. My advice is, if you are going to use the same die for a lot of cutting, turn the board, take turns with both B plates, place the die in different positions, so you don't cut in the same place with the same shape over and over which will shorten the board life. I have cut a lot of shapes in three weeks and the board is fine, doesn't look pretty, but it cuts just fine, I guess I will have to replace it some day, but we will see how long can I keep it :)

Well I love scrpabooking with the Bug, check my pictures and my review of the bonus kit!!

I also had to stand up to crank the plates through because the suction pads do not hold onto the table once I start cranking.

I think this machine would be fine just for using the embossing plates, but be prepared to baby your plates or replace them often.

The quality of the embossing is top notch. It really looks great, but this machine is not made for prolific use and output.

I love my Cuttlebug! It's so portable and easy to use. I haven't used it for die cutting since I have my Cricut Expression, but it's great for embossing. The impressions are so crisp and clear and the embossing folders are very inexpensive. I would recommend this to any crafter - novice or not.

A must have for scrapbooking and card making. I've used Cuttlebug embossing folders and cutting dies as well as...sissix, quickcutz, & spellbinders with the Cuttlebug and all work great.

This is a great little tool for customizing hand made cards. It works not only with it own brand of templates and embossing folders but with several other ones out their including your good old dry embossing brass templates you have stored away because it take sooo long to create something with them! I love this thing and I'd buy it again!
