5.0 out of 5 stars Good for an apartment environment
I have plenty of 2.1 speakers and I always have to adjust the subwoofers to have a really low output, because they are so powerful, that they shake half of my apartment building's quarter. I love music but I can never feel like I can be comfortable while listening to my music.

3.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: Improperly shielded
I've had these speakers for over two years now and they worked great. The sound quality is more than acceptable enough for basic uses. Well, they worked great until I moved. My new place just happens to be too close to a radio tower, and the improperly shielded wires or internal components only pick up the local radio station, not my computer audio.

I'll...

I have plenty of 2.1 speakers and I always have to adjust the subwoofers to have a really low output, because they are so powerful, that they shake half of my apartment building's quarter. I love music but I can never feel like I can be comfortable while listening to my music.

These speakers have enough bass for to allow you to hear most of the spectrum very clearly and not completely rattle your living space.
I didn't expect them to be so small, but was actually in relief when i found they were.
5 stars! :P

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Speakers for the Price, January 20, 2009
This review is from: Cyber Acoustics Oem 3 Pc Subwoofer System (Personal Computers)
These speakers arrived today and I was quite pleased with the sound. The two front speakers are crystal clear and sound really good. The subwoofer lacks just a bit but is still superior to my expectations for the price. It is certainly good enough for gaming or listening to music.

I would recommend these speakers for anyone searching for great bang for their buck.

My new place just happens to be too close to a radio tower, and the improperly shielded wires or internal components only pick up the local radio station, not my computer audio.

I'll probably pass them on to someone who can use them, but I am forced to purchase new speakers now. Kind of bums me out.

This is a nice start up speaker system for people buying there first subwoofer system.

even though it is only a 2.1 sytem it greatly improves audio quality from systems with out subwoofers.

easy plug and play set up

for people wanting great sound quality try a 5.1 or 7.1 instead

2.0 out of 5 stars Muddy Sound, Would Not Choose Again, January 26, 2010

I wanted the cheapest speakers I could get that would sound good. These have good bass, but that's about it. Everything sounds muddy and unclear. I should have gone with a set that didn't have a subwoofer for that same price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works after 4+ years, November 6, 2011
This review is from: Cyber Acoustics Oem 3 Pc Subwoofer System (Personal Computers)
I bought these at a brick and mortar store a long time ago, it must have been in 2007 or 2006. They have been hooked up to my various PCs over the years, and I still use them. About 6 months ago they developed a little bit of intermittent crackle, but not enough to bother me because it usually only happens when nothing is playing. They are obviously not for the audiophiles among us, but I use them for gaming, music and movies and they are awesome. The subwoofer is a little small, but it does provide sufficient bass for my tastes.

4.0 out of 5 stars They are better than I thought for the price!, November 4, 2011

First of all, ask yourself honestly what you are expecting... What are you trying to achieve...

I bought these speakers so that I could hear the music on my lap top in my office better, period. I don't need thundering volume, although I have to say in my 15'x18' office (about the size of a good bedroom) they have more than enough volume, I don't think I've ever had them at more than 50%. Of course, you have to make sure you adjust the setting on my computer to maximize these speakers, and find a nice balance of the volume of your source, and the amplification of the speakers. I found the sweet spot with my Dell lap top is about 50% volume from the computer, and use the volume control on the speaker for volume adjustments. This way, you are not getting distortion from the not brilliant sound card in the lap top, but you have enough energy to drive the sub. If I ever felt I needed even more volume, I'd just up the computer volume. If you are an audiofile, and want clean crisp sound, with booming base, well, wake up and buy something designed for the job. These are nice desk speakers for either your PC or Laptop. Obviously, they produce more high end sound, and not too much base, but adequate for your desk.

There is no tone adjustment on them, but because the subwoofer is a little underpowered the balance seems to be close, or OK. Personally, I'd like more base, but that's just me. I have the satelite speakers either side of my computer monitor, and the sub behind the screen on the desk. In this configuration the sound from the sub is reflected on the hard surface of the desk, and in fact causes the desk to become somewhat of a sound board. I wouldn't locate the sub on the floor, as the carpet would absorbe just about all the energy (unless you have a hard wood floor or the like).

Anyway, the bottom line for this product is that it EXCEEDED my expectations for the price, and give surprising volume and sound quality, again... for the price. I'd have given them a 5 star rating, but I pulled one star because the base I think really is a little lacking, and a little tone control would be nice. But hey, I wasn't expecting Bose speakers, or Champagne for Beer money! :-

Oh, and by the way, I've had these speakers for over two years, and NEVER had an issue since the day I plugged them in.

BrianB.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the worst, September 25, 2011

Obviously for the price i paid i wasn't expecting much. I like to have music outside when i bbq and stuff so that's the main reason i bought it but this is not ideal for much else. It shows in the instruction manual how it can be used with a gaming system but honestly i wouldn't even think to try it unless it was an older system like an old nintendo, nintendo 64, or psone
