Humorous for the lists only, August 17, 2009
This review is from: Cyber Jokes: The Funniest Stuff on the Internet (Paperback)
As far as I'm concerned, this is the best internet/web/computer joke of all time:
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't.
That's some clever, funny stuff.
As far as this web anthology goes, it's mainly worthwhile for the lists. There are a few lame stories, Darwinisms, Windows 95 jokes, Macs vs. IBMs, Multiple bumper stickers, ASCII nerd conversions, Bartisms - witticisms from Bart Simpson, Random humorous quotes, and a few random questions that sound like they were stolen straight from Jerry Seinfeld's standup routine (i.e. What's another word for "thesaurus?"). Mostly, however, it's all about the classic lists that have been passed around via work emails for years and years. For instance:
-Why God never received tenure at the University
-Fun Things to do in an Elevator
-Top Signs You've Watched Too Much Star Trek
-Things Not to say or Do at Your Thesis Defense
-You can tell it's going to be a rotten day when
My favorite is the worst pickup lines with these complete winners:
-You look like a hooker I knew in Fresno
-You're ugly, but you intrigue me
Overall, this is something for the coffee table or the back of the toilet. It's not great, but it might help pass the time or stir up a conversation.

Most collections contain lots of filler
but almost every page of this book has
something to make you smile.

I was disappointed to see so much unattributed material
in this book. Dave Barry's famous column on exploding whales
appears, but is attributed to someone named "Tom Mahoney".
Most of the other jokes are cut-n-pasted into this
book with no indication as to their source.
Dave Barry deserves an apology for this ripoff of his work.
Perhaps many other authors do too.
