Product Description

Cartridge with Box CYBERTIGER puts a brand new spin on the classic sport of golf. Choose one of four crazy cartoon-style golfers including a likeness of Tiger Woods himself and hit the course in a knockdown, drag-out race to the hole. You can play 18 holes on three different courses, each set in a wild, exotic location: challenge the engulfing sand of the Grand Canyon, the deep waters of Hawaii's shores, or the bubbling lava of a volcano. Littered throughout each of the courses are power-ups that will give you the edge over your opponent some, like the shot power increase, will help you; and some are more offensive and will cost your opponent dearly. For fast-paced, frantic action, take on a friend with Link Cable mode to see who can sink the ball first in a simultaneous race. CYBERTIGER presents the game of golf in a way you've never seen before.

3.0 out of 5 stars "I Can't Believe It's Not Mario!", December 31, 2000

This review is from: Cyber Tiger Golf (Game Cartridge)
One of the first things I noticed when I started this game up for the first time was how much it looks like Mario Golf. So close, in fact, I could swear these guys took the Mario Golf game engine and made a few modifications to sort-of put Tiger Woods into it (or "Junior Tiger" as you see when you start the game - you get to play against the "adult" Tiger Woods as an "opponent," although you don't get the Mario-style side-by-side play). Although the basic gameplay and graphics are very similar, I found a lot of things lacking in Cyber Tiger compared to Mario - the first being that it uses a password save instead of a battery - I HATE password saves, and automatically take marks off for it - and Cyber Tiger's is especially annoying because it's 16 characters long. I also enjoyed the player-vs-CPU games that Mario offers - this is does not appear to an option here, although two players can link up their gameboys with a cable. Cyber Tiger offers three courses, and 3 modes of play; Stroke, Career, and Rapid Fire. Rapid Fire is a mode I haven't seen yet in other games - you have to land your ball in the hole before a timer runs out. If you've got something against Mario and Luigi, this game will probably be one of the next best choices to get similar gameplay - but for most, I'd have to say just get Mario Golf instead.
