Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Measuring a mere 8.5 inches square by 3 inches high, the Cyber Home Prism's compact design makes it ideal for anyone seeking the quality and convenience of DVD technology for the living room, game room, bedroom, kids' room, kitchen, office, or college dormitory--anywhere where space is limited. The player is compatible with DVD-Video, VCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CD. It plays both NTSC- and PAL-formatted discs, convenient for viewing non-region-encoded U.K. DVDs. Parental password protection locks the player when viewing would otherwise be unsupervised.

Composite- and S-video outputs grant compatibility with most televisions. A single set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions, and both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio-video receiver.

Supplied accessories include a power cable and DC adapter, a composite-video/stereo audio interconnect, an instruction manual, and a universal remote control with batteries. Units sold in the USA play discs encoded for Region 1 only. The Prism is not a "region-free" player, and the region code is not user-changeable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time, March 6, 2003
This review is from: CyberHome Prism Home DVD Player (Electronics)
There's a lot to like about this DVD player - it's very portable and comes with a box/packaging that makes it easy to pack up and take with you. The features are comparable to much higher priced players. However, now the bad news. The player functioned well the first couple of times I used it but its performance has steadily gone down hill. You put a disk in and it spins and spins and can't read it and will then say "no disk". Frequently, if you try to shut the power off at the unit or with the remote to restart it, it will NOT EVEN POWER DOWN. You end up having to unplug it to cut the power. I have taken "problem disks" to my other DVD player which is an inexpensive Sony unit and the disks play without a hitch. Stay away from this unit. All the portability and functions in the world can't compensate for a DVD player that can't even play disks.

First you will notice that they were all made in 2001. It runs on this huge Dc converter, and it tends to heat up. The remote is not universal compatable so you have to use their remote only, does not even have a "floating" screen saver to protect tv from burn in.
KEEP AWAY FROM THIS UNIT.....My stop playing on the 3rd DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh yeah, baby . . ., December 15, 2002

Don't look any further. This baby kicks donkey! This is the first DVD player that I have owned, but I've used a lot before this. This thing is awesome. It's easy to hook up and disconnect. It's small and light, so it's easy to take with you to a friend's house. I'm in college right now, so it's a great space saver (it fits on top of my TV). The thing is competely self-explanatory -- I didn't even have to read the directions to begin using it. It's just plug it in, and play the DVD. The remote control has all of the buttons that a person could ever want -- zoom, fast forward, reverse (both of which can be done at different speeds), etc. etc. All of my friends are in awe -- at the quality and the pirce.
Now, I know I'm sounding like I was paid to write this, or I know the owners of the company or something. But, I'm not. I had never heard of Cyber Home before I bought this thing. I still haven't seen anything else that they make. It doesn't matter though -- they've pleased me with this DVD player. Go 'Canes (#1 for the second year in a row!) and thank you Cyber Home for this awesome DVD player.
