It could have been Great, Oh well.,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CyberLink DVD Suite 7 Ultra (CD-ROM)
This program could have been great. But, unfortunately, the creators of this program made the incorrect assumption that it was ok for them to take control of our computers when we install it. If you don't mind having hundreds of entries scattered all over your hard drive, many unnecessary, then go for it. If you don't mind them adding FIVE new running processes (windows start list),without your permission, then enjoy. There is another running process that you have to turn off manually, every time you quit the program. This program pesters you every time you boot it to upgrade and of course, it bugs you to install that "spyware" Google Toolbar on installation. The program is incapable of remember which folder you store captured video in. You have to tell it again every time you use it. When using the "Instant Burn" feature, you will find that there is literally no way to close it. Not good. The interface take a bit of getting used to but, it is usable and the program itself works great but, it's too bad they made the mistake of assuming the same thing Microsoft did, that they had the right to scatter junk and processes throughout our computers, without our permission and they they know better than we do what we do and do not want on our computers.

Very disappointing license issues...,
By However, after installing and reinstalling this software and going back and forth with Cyberlink support 5 times now via email, I think I just figured the problem on my own. The Help-About screen is showing Power Director v7 (LE) and I found in the help system that AVCHD is not supported on the "LE" version. I purchased the DVD Suite Ultra (which is SUPPOSED to support AVCHD), but after installation the software is registering as some light (LE) version instead and telling me I need to upgrade for another $59 if I want AVCHD support. First, I have to say that the basic (email) support from Cyberlink is about the worst I've ever used. As a computer professional for 20+ years dealing with hardware/software support departments, that is saying A LOT! I've sent 5 descriptions of my problem to support via email with screen shots of the issues and they still have no clue as to what my real problem is. The last response told me to "click past the error message and try to use the software". I've never said there was any error message - just simply that this version of my Power Director isn't recognizing my camcorder... ?!? Not a good support response to my problem! I guess I'll have to drop another $25 for phone support, so I don't have to waste any more time with email support and perhaps I'll get someone on the phone that understands the problem. Not a happy camper at this point! Good luck in your dealings with this organization. To be fair: I've used Cyberlink products for years now (Power Director v5, v6) and this is the first I've had to contact support now that I've moved onto HD (v7) and had this issue. In the past the product has been pretty good for my basic needs, so I can't really say the product is bad, but if you expect to need the support at Cyberlink I would not recommend this product/company.
