I was looking for rackmountable UPS unit other than APC brand and I ran into Cyberpower smart UPS unit. I like the specs and appearance. I'm a really happy with this product. It has blue easy to ready LCD display and it runs really quiet. It has chrome handles that compliments the look, too. It works great and it does what it supposed to do.

If you don't need a rack mount UPS, don't buy this unit since you can get similar features for $180 in a non-rack mount. If you need a rack mount, chances are you are not a casual user since you have to have a network and a rack. This unit looks all high tech with its blue LCD screen but underneath, it's just a basic backup. If you need sine wave power, this is not the unit for you. If your not sure or if you are just backing up a server or a NAS, then you don't need true sine wave. If you need a backup program to really work, this is not the unit for you either. The included back-up program is certified for Win NT, 2000, XP. It is not certified for any Win server OS or Linux OS. Most people who have a rack mounted computer have a server OS rather than a PC OS on it. I don't know that it won't work with Win Server but it's not designed or certified for it so if you have a problem, they won't support it. This is not as much of a problem as it seems since the UPS has basic functionality built in to tell a computer if the power is off and for the computer to shut down. You won't be able to program timing or other things but the basic shut down will work even without the program. So what you are left with is a solid, inexpensive, reliable, basic rack mount UPS and if that is all that you need, this is the unit to get.

This UPS is an excellent buy. Quiet and does the job. Will be buying another one soon as I am expanding. The title of this product is incorrect though. Title states 6 outlets, but it actually has 8 outlets as in the description.

I have bought several of these rackmount UPS, as well as others from Cyberpower. I did have one that arrived defective that Amazon replaced. Overall, they have been reliable in the field, and have some nice features on the LCD. I have not used the included software, so I can't comment on it. The one negative I might complain about is that the cover over the battery isn't great. Instead of the product itself, I wanted to review Cyberpower's customer service.

I called their customer service twice - once to troubleshoot the defective unit before returning it, and once because I did not have the rack mount adapters. One the first call, I told the rep that my LCD wasn't working and asked if there was anything I could do before returning it. He asked what model I had, and then said, "Hmm...I have a model from that same family here. Let me get a screwdriver, and I will see if that connector is servicable." He then proceeded to take his unit apart while talking to me on the phone until he could confirm that there were no servicable parts. That impressed me.

The second time I called, same sort of experience. I told them I didn't have the rack mount adapters and I think it was my fault as I probably threw them out with the box. They just said "what is your address", "what model do you have", and "I'll mail out a replacement to you today." They arrived a few days later. Again, very impressed.

Just to be fair, I have had an APC UPS in the past, and they too had pretty impressive customer support. I've been sticking with Cyberpower because I think they are the better combination of price and performance.

4 stars for the product, 5 stars for the customer service.

I've been using this for a month or so without any issues so far. It is a great alternative to what some overpriced competitors have to offer.

I have sold APC UPS systems for years, and for years they continue to drop communication using the USB port, cable has to be removed physically to correct the problem. APC forums are full of people complaining about this problem and APC continues to shun those users. This UPS is cheaper, better looking and has more functionality and no USB problem. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which one I'll be buying next time.

This UPS has an excellent feature set, software and run-time. The reversible LCD provides very useful information. It is also silent until an event occurs and even then the noise is not objectionable. I highly recommend it.

I recently purchased this along with an OR2200 (that uses a 20A outlet). Both units are in my network closet at home and nicely powering up the entire home entertainment components. Both 1500 and 2200 are rack mount capable. cooling has not appeared to become an issue. Both units are well built and look really cool with the blue LCD display. I've been hit with a few surges and a 3 minute power outage, so I will just review these two components on those events.

They handled all situations perfectly... ALL components were operational and nothing went down.

So IF some idiot at the local 'Great Purchase'<<<(whats another word for this?) store tries to sound intelligent and tell you how a Monster surge protector is the best way to go... you know... the $400 something glorified 'outlet extender' that they happen to have on the shelf... ask what happens when the power goes out?

IF you have put in the amount of time, effort, and money as I have done with my entire home entertainment system... dollar for dollar... there is nothing better than a UPS.

Now keep in mind that nothing is perfect... in about 4-5 years from start of usage, you WILL have to replace the NiCad battery. This will probably run anywhere from $85 and up, but to compare apples to apples... every 4-6 years you also have to replace your car battery... so look at it as normal maintenance for the home entertainment system.

Since its not an APC (by far my favorite brand) UPS, I have to give it a 4 star, but since it really beats out APC for the really cool display, I will give it the extra star to make it 5. Nothing is really wrong with the product and as these things are becoming more resonable in price and going more into homes, I hope other manufacturers come to a realization that they really need to make an otherwise boring looking product into something with a bit more flash.

I, like another reviewer, received this unit with physical damage to the chassis. The outside of the metal case was bulging out in several places. Come to find out, a heavy transformer inside that should be bolted to the inside-bottom of the case had sheered off from its bolts and was rattling around during shipping, causing aesthetic abuse to the unit. Additionally, when I plugged it in, although it seemed to power on fine, the devices plugged into it would not receive power. Only when the unit switched to battery backup power did the plugged in devices power on. The standard outlet circuitry had apparently been damaged during shipping. During the troubleshooting process, it ended up being unable to power on completely.

I'm sending this one back for a full refund (no replacement) since I'm not sure the design of the unit is conducive to shipping the way it's currently set up.
