OR2200PFCRT2U Battery Backup
Save open files and safely shutdown your computer when the power goes out.
Why You Need It

When power goes out for even a second it can result in data loss and hardware damage which can shorten equipment life expectancy. This battery backup unit provides sufficient emergency runtime power to allow for safe closure of open files and proper shut down of electronics when an outage occurs. In addition, it safeguards electronics from commonly occurring power surges caused by storms, activity on the power grid or high-powered equipment turning on and off. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) stabilizes incoming voltage, preventing chronic problems caused by minor but frequent power fluctuations. Computers and other devices using high-efficiency Active Power Factor Correction (APFC) power supplies require pure sine wave AC power (as supplied by utilities) for trouble-free operation. This PFC Sinewave battery backup ensures equipment using APFC power supplies will not unexpectedly shutdown or experience harmful stress when switching from AC power to battery power.

Typical Use

Provides backup power and surge protection for corporate and departmental servers, telecom equipment, VoIP and Internetworking hardware requiring pure sine wave output and Active PFC power source compatibility. Safeguards valuable documents, image files and connected equipment from loss or damage due to power fluctuations and surges, as well as uncontrolled equipment shutdown caused by power interruptions.

PowerPanel Business Edition Management Software

PowerPanel Business Edition software provides IT professionals with the tools they need to easily monitor and manage their backup power. This advanced software allows users remote access from any network PC with a web browser to instantly access vital UPS battery conditions, load levels and runtime information as well as provide graceful unattended shut down of network computers and virtual machines connected to a battery backup during a power event. Power alerts can be set up to send notifications though email, text or instant message.

Nice case, heavy gauge steel construction with a couple of solid handles for rack mounting that also help you move the unit when not rack mounted.

I have not installed the PowerPanel software yet, but understand it will only allow me to shut down one server through the USB interface.

I bought this UPS after doing a decent amount of research and after purchasing the Cyberpower OL1000RTXL2U. The biggest difference between this UPS and the OL1000RTXL2U is that this one is a line interactive type while the latter is an online double conversion type. I am very happy with the OR2200PFCRT2U and am writing this review to help others sort out the details of determining which UPS to buy. There is a lot of noise on the Internet about this topic and since I did research it a bit and ended up experiencing both of these UPS devices, I may be able to help you make a more informed purchase.

At a consumer level there are three types of UPS devices:

Offline (also called Standby): Your equipment is powered by your main electrical source until a loss of power is detected by the UPS, at which point the UPS begins powering your equipment from battery.

Line-Interactive: Same concept as Offline but also offering power conditioning via an inverter/converter. The addition of the inverter/converter allows for a faster switch time between normal power source and battery, better filtering of noise and spikes, and regulation of the power output to help protect equipment during brownouts and surges.

Online: These UPS devices continually power all connected equipment from battery, so whether your main power is still on or whether the UPS is not connected to power, all connected equipment is always powered from the batteries in the UPS. This offers perfect protection because no matter the situation, the connected equipment gets clean power with no transfer time between source power and backup power.

What I am powering from UPS: one high end computer, five 24" LCD monitors, phone, Internet modem, and wireless router.

Bought this UPS to power one dell power edge 2850 server, router, switch and extra components. The backup time is currently of 45 minutes with the specified configuration. Has both serial and USB for management! My only disappointment is that the UPS attaches only to the front of the rack which given its 60 pound weight might be a problem for some cheaper racks. The software is easy to install and mostly complete.

This is a very good UPS for the money. Costs much less than the Dell it replaced, and has greater load capacity and battery life. Would give it 5 stars, but it doesn't come with the "Right Angle Plug: NEMA 5-20P" as advertised in the product description. It comes with the twist-lock L5-30P (not right angle), so you are probably going to need to purchase an adapter before you can plug it in. They sell several options here on Amazon.

Would have been nice to have an accurate product description. I don't know why they send it with a twist lock plug... Other than that plug I'd give it 5 stars.

Purchased this UPS to replace a failing Triplite for our server and networking gear. Unit works great, is quality made and provides clean and consistent power.

A caveat: Just unpacked and installed. Running a 2013 Mac Pro, Areca 5026 Raid array, and two LCD monitors. Unit shows about 45 minutes backup. After connecting USB, UPS shows up in System Preferences: Energy Saver with three options for shutdown, including: 1) Minutes on UPS power from 1 to many, 2) Percentage of battery power remaining, and 3) IIRC, time remaining for UPS support. Plenty of flexibility. Don't see SMTP client option to notify you remotely, but simple menu for setup including sensitivity to under or over supply voltage. Sine wave power, required for many modern computer power supplies.

I removed the battery to help install the unit (they are heavy), very simple to do and good fit. Nice case, heavy gauge steel construction with a couple of solid handles for rack mounting that also help you move the unit when not rack mounted.

I'll post a follow up when sufficient experience accrues. I'm impressed c/w some of the other units I've used that seem flimsy and with poor battery life or noisy. After testing the fan while recharging battery, but silent during normal operation thus far.

I'm satisified with the product. It was the most cost effective item I could find, that was compatible with an active power factor correcting power supply, which was installed in my new workstation. Seems to be quailty built. Haven't had any negative issues with the product. Works as described by the manufacturer.

So far this unit has provided uninterrupted power where previous units have failed . NOTE: this UPS requires an electrical outlet that's not the bog standard 110V AC receptacle found in every room or cube.

Nice UPS at a very good price. The missing star is for the missing rack mount rails. Not an issue if you are floor mounting it, but a big deal if you put it in a rack. Other CyberPower UPS's I've bought over the years came with both the rack mount ears (like this one does) and the support rails. With no rails, the back end of the UPS has no support, that's a big problem.

Like similar UPS's, this one is dead silent in normal operation. It has a rated switchover time of 4 ms. That's fine for a server with a 100 ms "holdover" time. It also does transient clamping and line adjustment. Yes, there is indeed some weird combination of "UPS clamps at 627V / 2.3 us" and "server goes offline at 421V / 2.3 us". Fortunately I don't buy those sort of servers. If you buy the cheap stuff and have lots of transients, you may need a AC -> DC -> AC full time system (with the noisy all the time fans).

This *is* a pure sine wave UPS. These days you do not want a "modified sine wave" UPS. You *might* get away with it, you might not. How much did that stack of servers cost ? Even if you do get away with a modified sine wave, the PFC circuits will likely be boosting the effective KVA (by trying to correct it) and you will have a tough time making sure the modified unit is rated to do what you need to do.

There are a full inventory of protection add ons on the back of this UPS. You can protect a phone / ethernet line and a cable TV line (running MoCA?). There are both a DB-9 and a USB port for direct server connection. If you happen to be set up for contact closure shutdown, there's a jack for that as well.

This is a 1.3KW / 2 KVA UPS. It's HEAVY, don't plan on moving it around much. 2KVA is a LOT of current on a normal 120V plug.
